Corporate Equity Solutions Executive Director

BBVA’s Corporate Solutions team is a specialized unit within Global Corporate Sales , created to support the Group’s revenue growth by delivering cross-asset, balance-sheet-efficient solutions to Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) clients. The team serves as a strategic bridge between Global Markets and other CIB businesses, enabling BBVA to originate and execute complex, high-impact client transactions.

This role focuses on the origination, structuring, and execution of strategic equity-linked solutions for US-based corporate clients and financial sponsors , with a strong emphasis on listed equity underlyings and capital-structure-driven transactions . The successful candidate will act as a senior, client-facing originator , embedded within both the Corporate Solutions team and the Corporate Sales platform in the US, and recognized internally and externally as a subject‑matter expert in equity derivatives and equity financing solutions .

The position requires close collaboration with senior Coverage bankers , Global Markets product teams , and Investment Banking & Financing (IB&F) franchises across regions.

Key Responsibilities

Client Coverage & Origination

-Originate, structure, and execute strategic equity-linked transactions for large US corporate and financial sponsor clients.

-Act as a senior advisor to clients, delivering solutions aligned with their strategic, financial, and governance objectives.

-Maintain long‑term, relationship‑driven dialogue with clients, ensuring continuity of coverage and trusted‑partner status.

Transaction Structuring & Execution

-Lead the development and execution of complex equity solutions, including:

  • Equity derivatives for hedging, monetization, and risk management of listed equity exposures
  • Equity‑backed financing solutions (margin loans, prepaid forwards, collars, exchangeables, etc.)
  • Share repurchase strategies and capital‑structure optimization solutions
  • Structured financing transactions involving strategic equity stakes or treasury shares

-Ensure transactions are structured efficiently across regulatory, accounting, tax, and balance‑sheet considerations.

Cross‑Franchise Collaboration

-Work closely with Coverage, Global Markets, and IB&F teams to deliver integrated, cross‑product solutions.

-Act as a key connector between Global Markets and Investment Banking to support complex strategic client initiatives.

-Coordinate local and global stakeholders to ensure seamless execution across jurisdictions.

-Exercise strong judgement in risk assessment, transaction prioritization, and internal escalation.

-Ensure all transactions comply with BBVA’s risk framework, governance standards, and strategic priorities.

Qualifications & Experience

Academic & Professional Background

-Strong academic background in Finance, Economics, Engineering , or a related discipline.

-Significant experience at Director / Executive Director level in one or more of the following:

  • Strategic Equity Solutions
  • Equity Derivatives Sales
  • Global Markets Corporate Sales
  • Equity Structuring with a strong client‑facing focus

-Proven track record of originating and executing complex equity‑linked transactions with US corporate clients.

Technical Expertise

-Deep expertise in equity derivatives and equity‑based financing solutions .

-Strong understanding of US capital markets , corporate finance, and balance‑sheet optimization.

-Broad cross‑asset knowledge of Global Markets products and their interaction with Investment Banking solutions.

-Ability to design bespoke structures addressing regulatory, accounting, tax, and governance considerations relevant to US issuers.

Leadership & Soft Skills

-Strong client credibility with the ability to engage at CFO, Treasurer, and Board level .

-Demonstrated ability to act as a deal leader in complex, multi‑product transactions.

-Excellent stakeholder‑management skills within a global, matrixed organization .

-Sound judgement and discipline in managing risk, prioritization, and execution under pressure.

With respect to this position in our New York Office, the expected base salary ranges from $275,000 to $325,000. It is not typical for offers to be made at or near the top of the range. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
