As the Manufacturing Safety Director you will be responsible for the strategic leadership, development, and oversight of Grand Design's and Winnebago Towables' environmental, health, and safety programs. This role emphasizes long-term prevention of injuries and incidents by leading the organization's risk mitigation and safety by design activities while ensuring regulatory compliance. The role will have a cross-functional partnership with Maintenance, Engineering, and Quality to advance a Zero Harm culture across all facilities.

Key Areas of Responsibility

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of EHS programs across Grand Design RV and Winnebago Towables to attain a Zero Harm culture.
  • Drive Safety by Design and risk-reduction projects and strategies in partnership with Manufacturing, Maintenance, Engineering, and Quality teams.
  • Direct Grand Design RV's and Winnebago Towables' risk-reduction plan, ensuring projects and programs progress the organization towards Zero Harm.
  • Provide leadership coaching focused on hazard identification, safe behaviors, structured problem solving and advancing the Zero Harm culture.
  • Provide strategic leadership and guidance to internal resources to ensure consistent application of expectations, policies, best practices, and standards.
  • Work closely with Human Resources, the onsite Nurse, and Physical Therapist regarding incidents, reporting, and post-incident processes.
  • Oversee all environmental compliance activities including permitting, reporting, and required regulatory documentation (e.g., NPDES Storm Water, Tier II, SARA Title III, Facility Air Permits, SPCC, Hazardous Waste).
  • Collaborate with the EHS Center of Excellence to enhance reporting and bring best-practice initiatives into local operations.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned to support organizational objectives.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Knowledge of industrial equipment along with strong Continuous Improvement or Lean Manufacturing skills.

  • Sound judgment and ability to balance safety and operational needs.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Effective verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Mechanical, or Occupational Health and Safety engineering fields desirable, but not required
  • 7+ years of experience leading and managing risk mitigation and manufacturing improvement programs in manufacturing facilities, or an equivalent number of years managing manufacturing processes
