Position Summary

The Director of Sales is responsible for leading all sales initiatives for the 92-room Hotel North Woods, located in Lake Placid, NY. This role focuses on generating new business, strengthening existing client relationships, and positioning the hotel to maximize revenue and market share. The Director of Sales ensures that sales strategies align with hotel, company, and brand goals while contributing to an engaging, energetic, and guest-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote hotel services within existing markets and develop new business opportunities across targeted segments.
  • Actively engage in the community through networking, outside sales calls, telemarketing, client entertainment, and relationship building.
  • Lead sales solicitation efforts with a strong emphasis on maximizing RevPAR and achieving revenue and room night goals.
  • Develop and execute sales plans and strategies based on hotel repositioning following the property’s 2020 multi-million-dollar renovation.
  • Identify and cultivate prospective accounts that align with the hotel’s updated profile while maintaining and supporting existing clientele during transitional phases.
  • Prepare proposals, determine rates, negotiate contracts, service accounts, and analyze lost business to support long-term sales success.
  • Represent the hotel at trade shows, industry events, and feeder-market sales missions.
  • Partner with all operational departments to ensure seamless servicing of accounts and cohesive execution of sales initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the revenue management team to align pricing and negotiation strategies with the financial objectives of the hotel.
  • Work with the marketing team to maintain and enhance social media presence across platforms including Instagram, Facebook, and TripAdvisor.
  • Contribute to the preparation and development of the hotel’s annual business plan.
  • Submit all required reports, internal information requests, and special projects by assigned deadlines.
  • Support a collaborative and team-oriented work environment within the broader hotel leadership structure.

Qualifications

  • Proven sales experience with a track record of new business acquisition and successful relationship management.
  • Experience within a boutique-style hotel environment preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; effective at engaging clients and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work independently while embracing the responsibilities of a hotel-wide leadership role.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in computer systems and sales-related software.
  • Strong understanding of revenue generation strategies, rate negotiation, and hospitality sales practices.

Job Environment

  • Primarily conducted within hotel facilities, with regular off-site meetings, sales calls, and community engagements.
  • Requires walking or standing for up to 50% of the workday, as well as periods of desk-based administrative work.
  • Light lifting and occasional bending, reaching, or similar physical movements may be required.
