Associate Golf Professional
Job Description Position Concept The Associate Golf Professional is an active member of the Golf Management Team. This position is responsible for the daily, hands‑on operation of the golf shop and golf operations while working collaboratively with all departments. The role requires a strong on-the-floor presence, direct interaction with members and guests, and active participation in daily golf operations.

Merchandise (Inventory, Ordering, Display, Receiving)
Tournaments & Events
Specific Responsibilities Golf Operations Management
Actively work the tee sheet, reservation system, and daily starting operations
Serve as a visible presence in the golf shop, and on the course to monitor pace of play and address issues in real time
Personally assist with check‑in, guest services, and member interactions during peak times
Track, verify, and reconcile all daily play, green fees, golf cars, bag storage, locker usage, handicap fees, and related charges
Assist with daily cash handling, POS transactions, and end‑of‑day reconciliations
Actively oversee and assist with golf car staging, rotation, cleanliness, and basic maintenance reporting
Work directly with outside services to ensure smooth daily flow of play
Support daily operations of the practice facility, including setup, cleanliness, and guest assistance
Ensure proper storage, handling, cleaning, and security of all golf equipment
Actively build, maintain, and utilize the customer database through direct interaction and observation
Retail & Golf Shop Management
Work regular shifts behind the golf shop counter assisting members and guests
Participate directly in merchandising, receiving, tagging, stocking, and displaying inventory
Maintain a profitable and well‑organized retail operation aligned with the club's mission
Assist in buying decisions, vendor coordination, and seasonal purchasing strategies
Conduct physical inventories and cycle counts alongside staff
Ensure proper use of POS systems for sales, inventory control, and reporting
Train staff through daily side‑by‑side coaching rather than classroom‑only instruction
Actively engage customers to drive sales, fittings, special orders, and member requests
Maintain an attractive, clean, and welcoming appearance in and around the golf shop
Track member preferences including sizes, brands, spending history, and key dates
Golf Administration & Staff Leadership
Attend and actively contribute to management and staff meetings
Assist in updating and enforcing golf shop policies, procedures, and job descriptions
Ensure safety standards and procedures are followed daily and in compliance with OSHA requirements
Assist with newsletters, promotional materials, signage, and member communications
Enforce facility policies consistently while maintaining a service‑focused culture
Maintain regular written and verbal communication with the Director of Golf regarding operations, staffing, member feedback, and improvements
Facility & Interdepartmental Responsibilities
Work closely with all department heads to ensure smooth daily operations
Maintain an active working relationship with the Golf Course Superintendent, providing real‑time feedback on course conditions, playability, and tournament setup
Assist the Director of Golf with new member engagement, tours, and onboarding
Actively support tournament operations including setup, scoring, staffing, and execution
Coordinate directly with Food & Beverage management for golf events and daily needs
Knowledge, Skills & Traits
Maintain PGA of America membership or actively working towards membership if a PGA Associate
Knowledge of golf rules, tournament operations, and daily facility management
Proven ability to lead by example through hands‑on involvement
Strong organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to multitask in a fast‑paced environment
Service‑driven mindset with exceptional interpersonal skills
Self‑motivated with a strong work ethic and attention to detail
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Proficient in POS systems, Microsoft Word, Excel, email, and golf management software
Maintain a professional appearance and positive reputation within the community
