
Multimedia Designer - Temporary

Title: Multimedia Designer
Hourly rate: $65 per hour. Full-time casual, 4 days in office, 1 remote day.
Overview The Office of Communications promotes and protects Princeton University’s reputation for excellence. In partnership with offices across campus, we tell the University’s story across many media channels. The multimedia team in Communications utilizes design, photography and video to create compelling, focused narratives that connect with key audiences and advance the University’s most important priorities.
Responsibilities
Design and visual development
Create high-quality presentation decks (PowerPoint, Google Slides, or other similar programs)
Design and format reports (layout, typography, charts, infographics)
Develop branded social media graphics
Adapt campaign visuals across multiple formats and sizes
Ensure visual consistency across digital and print channels
Web and homepage content support
Select, prepare, and optimize images for homepage stories
Crop, retouch, and adjust images for web performance and visual impact
Embed and format images using the Drupal platform
Ensure proper resolution, compression, and accessibility considerations
Video and motion graphics
Edit short-form social media videos
Add captions, motion graphics, and basic animation
Resize and optimize video content for different platforms
Print and Production
Prepare print-ready files for offset printing
Manage bleed, trim, color profiles, and prepress checks
Coordinate with print vendors when needed
Ensure production accuracy and brand consistency
Other duties as assigned, meetings, training/professional development.
Qualifications
BA, BFA Degree, or related field
3+ years of work experience as a visual designer
Proven graphic design experience
A strong portfolio with experience with logo design, typography, color, layout design and image selections
Proficient use of Adobe Creative Suite – InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Adobe Premiere and After Effects
Proficient in MS Office (Excel and PowerPoint)
Strong aesthetic skills with the ability to combine various colors, fonts, and layouts
Ability to meet deadlines while working on team projects
Solid understanding of print production and prepress workflows
A keen eye for aesthetics and details
Excellent communication skills
Ability to work methodically and meet deadlines
Incorporate feedback and take/give direction well
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in a higher education setting
Video editing, motion graphics and animation skills
Experience with Drupal
