
Employee Engagement Specialist

At CMCS (Cardinal McCloskey Community Services), our mission is to protect, empower, and promote independence for at-risk children and families and those with developmental disabilities through quality community-based services. The Employee Engagement Specialist is responsible for fostering a positive and productive workplace culture. This role leads key HR functions including employee relations investigations, labor relations, leadership development facilitation, and new employee onboarding and orientation. The position also partners closely with supervisors and leadership to build managerial capability and ensure consistent application of organizational policies and practices.
Key Responsibilities Employee Onboarding & Engagement
Coordinate and facilitate the
New Employee Welcome
program to ensure a positive onboarding experience.
Facilitate new employee orientation sessions to introduce new hires to organizational culture, policies, and expectations.
Present HR updates and information at leadership meetings
Participate in organizational Committees to promote communication and engagement.
Learning & Leadership Development
Serve as
Administrator and Facilitator , ensuring delivery of leadership development programs.
Create and maintain the
CMCS Supervisor Manual , providing clear guidance, expectations, and resources for supervisors.
Coach supervisors on employee relations (ER) matters, policy interpretation, and best practices in people management.
Employee & Labor Relations
Conduct employee relations investigations, including documentation, reporting, and tracking of all ER cases.
Provide expert consultation to supervisors and managers on employee issues and HR compliance.
Hear and respond to
union grievances
in alignment with contractual obligations and organizational policies.
Participate in
union negotiations , offering HR expertise on contract language, proposals, and labor strategy.
Conduct new hire check-ins and exit interviews
Compile, analyze and report on KPIs.
HR Processes & Compliance
Oversee annual performance appraisal program.
Maintain accurate and confidential documentation related to investigations, grievances, and HR activities.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to strengthen organizational culture and promote equitable, consistent, and legally compliant HR practices.
Requirements
5+ years of relevant HR experience, in a NFP preferred
Bachelor's degree preferred
Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills
Experience with data analytics
