Field Service Representative

General Job Summary To examine defective or problematic units that have shipped to customers, in order to carry out specific repairs.

Job Description The role involves examining units to diagnose issues, conducting corrective action investigations, directing technician work, and performing mechanical repairs on both plant and customer locations.

Essential Job Functions

Examine units to determine specific problems or defects.

Investigate related corrective action requests (CAR’s) to ensure future prevention; may also initiate CAR’s as needed.

Direct the work of one or two technicians as assigned.

Repair units outside of the plant and at customer locations.

Measure, cut, fit, adjust, drill, rivet, bolt, and route completed assemblies to the next phase of manufacture.

Use templates, jigs, fixtures, and measurements to position parts and install modifications (frames, tables, doors, supports, posts, brackets, etc.).

Travel domestically and internationally on a regular basis and on short notice.

Other duties may be assigned.

Experience and Skills Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Capable of performing all operations and repairs on the assigned line.

Respirator approved.

Skill in paint prep and painting.

Ability to use and understand SRP’s.

Ability to read complicated blueprints.

Ability to use rivet guns, electric drills, sanders, and grinders.

Maintain sensitive and confidential information as required by government standards.

Interact effectively with peers and supervisors.

Interact appropriately with the public when necessary.

Adhere to workplace rules.

Basic computer skills.

Education and Experience

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Additional technical training desired.

3–5 years on-the-job experience in mechanical assembly.

Work Environment / Physical Requirements

Shop floor environment.

Ability to stand and sit for long periods.

Perform repetitive motion (rotating wrists, keyboarding, using small/large tools).

Lift up to 50 pounds.

Tolerate constant noise (e.g., machine motors).

Work safely in the presence of hazardous chemicals and conditions.

Follow standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Travel Requirements Yes, domestic and international, as required.
