Position Summary This position will provide instruments marketing leadership within the Surgical Business Unit. This candidate will oversee key aspects of instrument marketing activities to drive pipeline execution and product development. For example, this candidate will act to ensure the voice of customer is translated well into requirements and maintained throughout the instrument product development process. This candidate must be an effective communicator with a proven background in organizational influence and effectiveness. This candidate will ensure coordination between all necessary Teleflex internal and external groups, such as Surgical BU management, Surgical instrument project teams, and instrument external vendors, to ensure the instrument marketing activities are successful. The ideal candidate should possess a strong knowledge of medical device products, core marketing principles, design controls, regulations and manufacturing operations. In addition, the ideal candidate will have experience in the continuum of medical device development through the commercialization in the U.S. and abroad.
Principal Responsibilities
Support global product development initiatives within the Surgical Business Unit.
Administer and coordinate the marketing activities throughout the product development process of instruments as part of a cross-functional project team.
Interface with physicians to conduct market surveys, market research, and coordinate product evaluations. Translate voice of customer into clear requirements and ensure the voice of customer is maintained throughout the product development process.
Assist in defining appropriate product claims to support the value proposition and help coordinate the activities required to support those claims.
Actively participate on a cross-functional instrument project team, including but not limited to: Project Manager, R&D, Quality, Operations, Regulatory, Sterility and Manufacturing team members.
Collaborate with the cross-functional instrument project team to accomplish project and business goals, to ensure project resource requirements have been met, to develop and monitor risk mitigation plans to ensure business and project objectives are met, to contribute to project activities between cross-functional internal functions and external suppliers (as applicable), to ensure the project is delivered within budget and schedule with no material impact to product quality or service.
Ensure on-time delivery of marketing activities in accordance with project charter.
Provide regular instrument marketing activity status updates to stakeholders.
Attend major conventions and sales meetings as required.
Adhere to and ensure the adherence of Teleflex Code of Ethics, all Company policies, rules, procedures, and housekeeping standards.
Education / Experience Requirements
Four-year College degree, MBA preferred
3-5+ years marketing experience required
Minimum of 2 years in medical device industry
Previous project marketing experience
Strong knowledge of core marketing principles
Experience as a participant on a cross-functional product development team
Must be proficient in supporting, coordinating and communicating with multiple stakeholders
Capable of prioritizing tasks and provide a timely schedule of completion
Specialized Skills / Other Requirements
Understands new product development processes and the medical regulatory environment
Ability to work with colleagues to drive consensus on project decisions
Willingness to drive focus and prioritization
Ability to work in lean environment without a large infrastructure behind him/her
