
Marketing & Social Media Student Worker - Elliott Student Union

Job Description
Under the direction of the Marketing Graduate Assistant, the Elliott Student Union Marketing Team Member plans and produces content to support the Elliott Student Union’s missions.
Duties Include
Fully support and assist in the execution of the ESU’s Mission
Create and curate engaging content by effectively utilizing the ESU and UBC’s social media platforms to highlight students, events, services, partners, organizations, etc.
Plan and staff engaging marketing tables to promote upcoming events and services the Union offers
Contribute and execute marketing for ESU and UBC’s signature events such as The Union Experience, Union Birthday Bash, Holiday Market, and Bowling with The Bests
Collaborate with student organizations, Union partners, other offices, and/or academic departments to enhance the social media experiences and encourage people to come to the ESU and UBC
Analyze and report ongoing market research to understand the needs, perceptions, preferences, and satisfaction levels with particular segments of the ESU
Create content about students, staff, and alumni within the assigned area
Develop and edit stories, press releases, and other web content according to style and policy guidelines
Generate innovative ideas and concepts to keep content fresh, engaging, and relevant to the ESU’s audience
Review and update display cases in the Elliott Student Union
Work cooperatively and seamlessly with other staff members to provide quality customer service
Film and photograph Union events to create content
Collaborate with the marketing team to develop and produce engaging social media video content, which may include on-camera appearances.
Typical Qualifications
Must be currently enrolled at the University of Central Missouri
Must be majoring in one of the following areas: Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, or a related field
2.5 GPA
Attention to detail
Communication skills, including oral, written, and/or nonverbal
Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and meet deadlines
Solid understanding of social media channels - specifically Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok
Efficiency at Google Suite
Photography and Video Production
Knowledge of a University environment
Familiar with Elliott Student Union facilities and departments
Working Hours And Days
This is a part‑time (10-20 hours/week) position with various work hours. Evening, day, and weekend hours may be required.
Additional Requirements This position requires a cover letter.
