
Outside Sales Representative

The Outside Sales Representative will be responsible for developing and managing business within a multi-state southeastern territory, focused on utility-grade infrastructure products.
This role requires a relationship-driven sales professional who understands long-cycle industrial sales, specification-based products, and the importance of reliability within utility supply chains.
The ideal candidate has experience selling into electric utilities, telecom providers, cooperatives, or infrastructure contractors and is comfortable operating independently in a regional territory.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain strategic relationships with:
Electric utilities
Rural electric cooperatives
Utility and infrastructure contractors
Drive territory growth through:
Prospecting and new account development
Account expansion within existing customer base
Participation in industry events and association meetings
Prepare and present proposals, pricing structures, and supply agreements
Coordinate closely with operations, logistics, and customer support teams to ensure timely fulfillment and customer satisfaction
Monitor market conditions, competitive positioning, and regional pricing trends
Maintain accurate forecasts and account activity through CRM systems
Conduct regular in-person customer visits and site visits throughout assigned territory
Support long-term contract negotiations and bid processes
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Forestry, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
5+ years of outside sales experience in one or more of the following:
Utility products
Treated wood or industrial materials
Construction materials
Infrastructure supply
Industrial manufacturing
Demonstrated success managing a multi-state territory
Strong negotiation and contract management skills
Ability to work independently while collaborating cross-functionally
Proficiency in CRM platforms and Microsoft Office
Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel extensively
Preferred Experience
Direct experience selling to electric utilities or telecommunications companies
Knowledge of specification-driven products and utility procurement processes
Familiarity with infrastructure project cycles and public-sector purchasing
Understanding of wood treating standards or similar regulated manufacturing environments
