Primary Purpose of Department
The mission of the Athletic Department at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte is to operate within the perspective of the overall educational programs. Primary Purpose of Position
The Director of Broadcast Video and Technology will manage the daily operations of the Broadcast Video and Technology Department.
Summary of Position Responsibilities
The Director will manage the critical daily needs of the department, including but not limited to:
Production Director for all Athletic Events and University Special Events (Convocation, Commencement, Concerts)
Technical consultant for large-scale events occurring in an athletic venue
Consultation, Maintenance, and Operation of all major audio-visual technologies within athletics, including but not limited to: LED Displays, Audio Systems, Lighting, and Broadcast Video Systems
Maintain equipment inventory, including computer equipment, software, hardware, and local area network systems throughout the video production facilities and venues.
Set-up, operation, and strike of remote and studio broadcast productions, including box lens camera builds, audio mixers, replay systems, graphics systems, and camera shading.
Working knowledge of fiber paths, termination, and transmission, including Single Mode Fiber.
Experience with IP-based cameras and PTZ camera systems.
Applicable knowledge of SDI and XLR termination.
Proficiency in soldering cables.
Experience with the setup and maintenance of encoders for streaming live events.
Project Manager for internal athletic projects and upgrades
Recruitment, Development, Supervision, and Training of Student Staff for the operation of broadcast equipment and venue technical equipment
Supervision of Technology Operations Coordinator
Other duties assigned by the Assistant Athletic Director for Broadcast Video and Technology
Bachelor’s degree and
Two years of relevant experience, or
combination of education and experience.
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills and Experience
4 Year Degree
5 years of experience working with technology in athletic venues during live events
Necessary Certifications/Licenses Preferred Certifications/Licenses
