A Brief Overview Provide support to the Employee Relations Manager in risk mitigation efforts. Advise Human Resources on matters related to employment law. Oversee Employee Relations (ER) operations and the work of Employee Relations Consultants (ERC). Ensure consistent delivery of employee relations outcomes, streamline case‑resolution processes, and strengthen organizational responsiveness to workplace concerns.
What you’ll do
Employee Relations Case Management
Serve as Subject Matter Experts (SME) on employment law and complex employee relations matters.
Provide expert legal guidance to the Human Resources Department.
Integrate legal strategy, organizational risk management, and operational execution to strengthen the internal ER infrastructure and ensure consistent, timely, and equitable case outcomes.
Oversee and supervise the operational functions of the Employee Relations Department.
Ensure timely and effective execution of core Employee Relations Consultant (ERC) responsibilities, including but not limited to:
Analysis and investigation findings
Design, management, and execution of action plans up to, but not including, terminations
Performance Improvement Plan (PIP) management
Metrics compliance
Prepare ADA reasonable accommodation requests for Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) review and determination.
Supervise and mentor ER Consultants by providing coaching, best practices, case oversight, consult management, documentation review, and ensuring metrics compliance.
Conduct research on federal, state, and local employment laws (e.g., Title VII, ADA, FMLA, FLSA) to enhance efficiencies and support regulatory compliance through employment law expertise.
Perform employment‑law‑related research from an Employee Relations perspective.
Assist ERM with discovery matters, including data gathering, recovery, and production.
Develop and deliver employee training on workplace conduct, anti‑harassment laws, policy interpretation, and other employment‑law‑related subjects to strengthen regulatory compliance.
Develop, update, and implement ER‑related policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and organizational objectives.
Perform other duties as assigned.
This role requires the ability to work and integrate effectively across different regions or countries, according to the needs and scope of the position.
Competencies
Strong written and verbal communication for reports, presentations, in Spanish and English.
Critical Thinking & Judgement
Legal Analysis & Risk Management. Investigation & Documentation Excellence.
Ability to use Microsoft Office tools, software, data security protocols, and digital platforms.
Conflict Resolution & Mediation
Understand and respond to internal and external client needs.
Knowledge of laws, regulatory compliance and other financial regulations.
What you’ll need
Juris Doctor Practical legal training. Must pass the Puerto Rico Bar Exam: Admitted to the practice of law in Puerto Rico by the Supreme Court of Puerto Rico.
1–2 years of professional experience in employment law, including the management of matters related to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
5+ years of combined litigation and counseling experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant professional practice.
Preferred: Supervisory or team leadership experience, demonstrating the ability to guide, support, and effectively oversee staff or project teams.
