About The Office of Student Financial Aid (OSFA) OSFA manages and executes the financial aid operations, programs, and processes for the campus. OSFA oversees the administration of federal, state, and institutional aid provided to the UGA student body. With approximately 42 employees OSFA has responsibility for all financial aid received by the UGA student body in the form of grants, scholarships, loans, and work programs. OSFA annually administers in excess of $500 million in student financial aid for UGA students.

Salary and Benefits Advertised Salary: Up To $45,000 Benefits Eligible. Retirement Plan: TRS or ORP

Responsibilities

Advise students and parents regarding federal, state and institutional student financial aid, and assist with related student financial aid application processes.

Determine eligibility for and revise student financial aid awards according to established guidelines and policies.

Remain current regarding federal, state and institutional student financial aid regulations, policies and procedures.

Assist the Assistant Director for Federal Work Study Program Management with administering the America Reads and Counts tutoring program.

Provide assistance to students, families, and colleagues in completing financial aid application processes.

Maintain a working knowledge of relevant student information and financial aid processing systems.

Maintain privacy and confidentiality of student and family data and information; maintain security of student records and related information.

Collaborate with other employees on office committees regarding policy, procedures, and training opportunities.

Participate in approved professional development activities in coordination with supervisor.

Assist with presentations and financial aid outreach events, delivering information and responding to questions accurately, timely, and professionally.

Assist in training new employees (permanent and temporary, including interns and graduate assistants), as needed.

Process and work numerous and complex reports, interpreting necessary actions and ensuring timely completion.

Under the supervision of the Assistant Director for Federal Work‑Study Program Management, assist with administering the America Reads and Counts tutoring program; serve as backup to the Assistant Director for all FWS procedures including payroll, human resources, reporting and communication; review and process timesheets for off‑campus FWS employees.

Adhere to all statutory, regulatory, and policy guidance, including office policies and procedures.

Provide clear and accurate documentation of transactions, conversations, interactions, and edits to records affecting student eligibility and/or compliance with applicable regulations, statutes, and/or policies.

Assist with office reception duties, as needed; perform other duties as assigned, which may include working in other areas of the office, as needed.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent.

Prior experience working in Student Financial Aid preferred.

Acute attention to detail and deadlines.

Strong organizational skills.

Ability to multitask with high levels of accuracy.

Strong customer service skills.

Excellent oral and written communication skills – above average computer skills.

Serve various student and parent populations.

Strong computer and technology skills.

Physical Demands and Additional Requirements

Climb stairs, lift up to 30 pounds or more, and sit for extended periods of time doing computer work.

Driving required.

Some evening and weekend work and travel for outreach events off campus.

Position is a Position of Trust and has security access; does not involve direct interaction or care of children under 18 or direct patient care.

Does not have operation, access, or control of financial resources or require a P‑Card.
