Associate - Asset‑Backed Finance Position Overview The Associate will play a central role in evaluating, underwriting, and monitoring asset‑backed and specialty finance investments across consumer, esoteric, and residual‑based strategies. This is an opportunity to join a lean, high‑performing team where Associates have meaningful ownership of analysis, portfolio management, and execution.
Key Responsibilities Investment Underwriting & Analysis
Build, maintain, and stress‑test detailed asset‑level cash flow, pool, and residual value models
Perform deep dive analysis on consumer and esoteric asset classes, including historical performance, servicing behavior, and collateral characteristics
Assess deal structures, credit enhancements, triggers, and waterfalls
Deal Execution
Support due diligence across legal, operational, servicing, and collateral reviews
Prepare investment committee materials and clearly articulate key risks
Coordinate with external advisors, counterparties, and internal stakeholders
Portfolio Management
Track ongoing pool performance, servicing trends, delinquencies, and reserve levels
Participate in quarterly portfolio reviews and valuation discussions
Maintain strong ongoing dialogue with partners and issuers
Ideal Background
2-5 years
experience in:
Asset‑backed finance / specialty finance investing
Structured credit / securitization groups
Investment banking within FIG/ABS, lending, or credit
Strong modeling abilities (pool‑level, cashflow waterfalls, structuring analysis)
Familiarity with esoteric or consumer ABS, residuals, or specialty lending models
Ability to thrive in a lean, entrepreneurial environment
