Job Summary
The Human Resources Specialist supports the daily functions of the HR department, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, compliance, and HR record management. This role ensures HR policies and procedures are implemented consistently and supports employees and management in achieving organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities
Support recruitment and selection activities, including posting job openings, screening resumes, scheduling interviews, and coordinating hiring processes.
Assist with new employee onboarding and orientation programs.
Maintain accurate and confidential employee records and HR documentation.
Administer employee benefits programs including but not limited to health insurance, long term disability, life insurance, COBRA, FLMA and respond to employee inquiries.
Support performance management processes, including evaluations and employee development initiatives.
Assist in employee relations matters, including addressing concerns and supporting investigations as needed.
Accurate and timely semi-monthly payroll processing.
Ensure compliance with company policies, labor laws, and employment regulations.
Prepare HR reports, metrics, and documentation for management review.
Coordinate training programs and employee engagement activities.
Administers unemployment and disability claims.
Conduct exit interviews and offboarding processes.
Maintains and orders supplies as needed.
Support HR projects and initiatives as assigned.
Ensure smooth functions of office by submitting service requests to building management and vendors.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
2–4 years of experience in human resources or a related role.
Thorough understanding of state and federal labor laws.
Knowledge of HR best practices, employment laws, and HR processes.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
Proficiency in HR information systems (HRIS) and Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Qualifications
Professional HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR).
Experience with payroll systems and benefits administration.
Experience in a fast-paced or multi-site environment.
Familiarity with most common federal and California employment laws.
Ability to fluently read, write, and speak Japanese is a plus.
