Human Resources Specialist
Kidventure is seeking a detail-oriented, organized, and people-focused HR Specialist to support the onboarding, compliance, and employee lifecycle processes across our Summer Camps, After School Programs, and Seasonal Camps. This is an entry-level role ideal for someone looking to advance their career in Human Resources while working in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment focused on children, families, and team development. The HR Specialist will ensure that all staff members meet hiring requirements, complete onboarding tasks accurately, and remain compliant with company policies and state regulations. Primary Responsibilities
Assist with reviewing applications and screening candidates Schedule interviews via Calendly and coordinate hiring logistics Support job postings and recruitment tracking Maintain organized applicant records Onboarding & Offboarding
Facilitate onboarding for seasonal and full-time staff Ensure completion of:
I-9 documentation Background checks (DFPS & FBI) CPR/First Aid certifications Sexual Abuse Prevention training Signed Employment Agreements
Set up employees in Paycom and internal systems Track compliance deadlines and documentation renewals Coordinate offboarding paperwork and access removal HR Systems & Administration
Maintain accurate employee files (digital and/or physical) Support Paycom updates (profiles, departments, access levels) Assist with time-off tracking and documentation Monitor training completion reports Ensure staff handbook acknowledgements are collected Compliance & Policy Support
Ensure hiring processes align with DFPS Minimum Standards Assist in updating and distributing policy documents Support audits and internal documentation reviews Maintain confidentiality in all HR matters Employee Support
Respond to basic HR-related employee questions Assist with performance documentation processing Support the corrective action paperwork preparation Help coordinate staff trainings and internal communications Qualifications
Required:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or in progress) Strong organizational and administrative skills Close attention to detail and accuracy Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to handle confidential information professionally Proficiency in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive) Ability to manage multiple deadlines during seasonal peaks Preferred:
Experience in childcare, camps, or education settings Familiarity with Paycom or HRIS systems Understanding of Texas childcare compliance requirements Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
