Utility Submetering & Billing Account Manager
AWS is seeking a Utility Submetering & Billing Account Manager to oversee assigned commercial property portfolios and ensure operational accuracy across submetering systems and tenant utility billing.
This role serves as the primary liaison for property management clients and is responsible for maintaining billing integrity, supporting accurate revenue recovery, and ensuring alignment between submeter systems and municipal utility charges.
The Account Manager works closely with regional property managers, ownership groups, and internal metering and billing teams to ensure properties are operational, billing correctly, and financially aligned.
Key Responsibilities Client Relationship Management
Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned property portfolios
Build trusted relationships with regional and property-level managers
Lead Zoom meetings to review system health, billing status, and corrective actions
Identify appropriate property-level contacts to resolve operational or billing issues
Submeter System Health & Technical Oversight
Review and diagnose the health of water submetering and remote reading systems
Analyze meter data, usage trends, and system performance
Identify gaps, failures, or data issues impacting billing accuracy
Utility Billing Reconciliation & A/R Support
Reconcile tenant utility billing against master utility bills from cities or municipalities
Identify over/under recoveries, billing discrepancies, and missing usage
Support resolution of accounts receivable (A/R) issues related to tenant billing
Coordinate internally to correct billing errors and prevent recurring issues
Reporting, Analysis & Action Planning
Analyze utility consumption and billing data across property portfolios
Prepare worksheets, summaries, and presentations outlining findings and action plans
Track action items, resolutions, and follow-ups across multiple properties
Maintain organized documentation and status updates for clients and internal teams
Act as a liaison between clients and internal metering and billing teams
Coordinate the transition of installed utility meters into active billing
Confirm meter communication, data flow, and billing readiness
Support onboarding of new properties into the billing platform
Qualifications
Mid-level experience in utility submetering, utility billing, or related industry
Working knowledge of:
Water submeters and utility metering systems
Remote reading technologies (AMR / AMI / cellular endpoints)
Tenant utility billing and municipal utility invoicing
Understanding of property management operations and portfolio structures
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret usage and billing data
Excellent communication and client-facing presentation skills
Strong time management and organizational skills
Experience in account management, client services, or utility-focused roles preferred
