Position Summary
The Director of Business Operations is a senior operational leader responsible for driving enterprise execution, operational scalability, and organizational performance across multiple regions and functions. This role provides strategic oversight of production, staffing, operational systems, and leadership development while ensuring the organization has the structure and resources necessary to sustain growth.
The Director plays a critical role in translating executive vision into operational reality by aligning field execution, business systems, and leadership accountability. This position requires a balance of strategic thinking, operational rigor, and hands‑on leadership across complex, fast‑scaling environments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Enterprise Operational Leadership
Develop and oversee operational frameworks that ensure consistency across regions.
Establish structured performance rhythms, including weekly KPI reviews and monthly operational reporting.
Standardize production metrics, utilization tracking, and accountability mechanisms.
Align operational execution with company growth strategy.
Human Resources & Workforce Governance
Partner with HR to align workforce planning with production forecasts and backlog demands.
Review headcount, span of control, and leadership capacity across regions.
Monitor overtime exposure, labor utilization, and wage & hour compliance risks.
Provide oversight on high‑level disciplinary matters and performance management consistency.
Ensure compensation decisions align with approved pay bands and budget parameters.
Support succession planning and leadership development initiatives.
Compliance & Risk Management
Ensure multi‑state compliance with labor laws, DOT requirements, OSHA standards, and other regulatory obligations.
Oversee wage and hour controls, including timekeeping governance and payroll accuracy.
Review compliance reporting related to travel pay, per diem, and employee classification.
Ensure subcontractor documentation, insurance certificates, and agreements are current and compliant.
Support audit readiness through structured documentation and internal review processes.
Reinforce safety culture while maintaining operational efficiency.
Financial & Accounting Alignment
Partner with Accounting and Finance to monitor regional P&L performance.
Review labor‑to‑revenue ratios, cost drivers, and margin performance.
Identify early indicators of margin compression and implement corrective actions.
Ensure production documentation supports accurate and timely billing.
Align field reporting cadence with invoicing and revenue recognition requirements.
Support forecasting, backlog analysis, and operational budgeting processes.
Field Operations Oversight
Conduct structured regional performance reviews.
Monitor productivity, labor efficiency, equipment utilization, and safety metrics.
Identify bottlenecks, resource gaps, and operational breakdowns.
Ensure consistent use of operational systems such as field reporting and fleet platforms.
Maintain visibility into field execution through periodic site engagement.
Systems & Process Optimization
Lead adoption and optimization of enterprise systems, including HRIS, reporting tools, and field platforms.
Standardize dashboards and operational analytics.
Identify workflow inefficiencies and implement scalable process improvements.
Evaluate operational impact before implementing structural or system changes.
Executive & Cross‑Functional Coordination
Provide executive leadership with structured operational health updates.
Present data‑driven recommendations related to growth, cost control, and risk mitigation.
Serve as liaison between executive leadership and operational teams.
Strengthen alignment between Operations, HR, Finance, Safety, and Support functions.

Required
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
8–10+ years of senior operational leadership experience.
Experience in construction, telecommunications, utilities, or infrastructure environments.
Demonstrated experience managing operational budgets and performance.
Strong background in process improvement and scaling operations.
Preferred
Master’s degree in a related discipline.
Experience scaling regional operations into multi‑state platforms.
Telecommunications or OSP construction background.
Experience implementing enterprise systems or operational transformations.
Lean, Six Sigma, or operational excellence certifications.
