Position Overview Our client, a large and established organization with global supply chain operations, is seeking an

Import & Export Coordinator – Ocean Freight

to support international transportation and trade operations from their Salt Lake City office. This role will focus on managing end-to-end ocean freight movements, ensuring timely, cost-effective, and compliant import and export shipments.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience coordinating ocean freight logistics, strong attention to detail, and a solid understanding of international shipping documentation and compliance requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Coordinate international

ocean import and export shipments

from origin to final destination

Manage bookings with ocean carriers, NVOCCs, and freight forwarders

Prepare, review, and maintain import and export documentation, including Bills of Lading, commercial invoices, packing lists, and shipping instructions

Ensure compliance with U.S. import and export regulations, internal procedures, and customer requirements

Track shipments and proactively communicate status updates, delays, and exceptions to internal stakeholders

Work closely with customs brokers, carriers, ports, and internal teams to ensure smooth cargo flow

Verify freight invoices, resolve discrepancies, and support cost control initiatives

Maintain accurate shipment records within TMS/ERP systems

Support audits, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives related to ocean freight operations

Collaborate with supply chain, procurement, and compliance teams to meet service and delivery objectives

Qualifications

2–5 years of experience in international logistics, import/export coordination, or freight forwarding

Strong focus on

ocean freight operations

(FCL/LCL import and export)

Working knowledge of international trade documentation and Incoterms

Experience coordinating with carriers, freight forwarders, and customs brokers

Familiarity with U.S. import/export compliance requirements

Proficiency in TMS, ERP, or freight management systems

Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple shipments simultaneously

Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities

Preferred Qualifications

Experience supporting high-volume or global shipping operations

Exposure to customs clearance processes and trade compliance

Knowledge of port operations and international routing strategies
