In partnership with functional leaders, this role is accountable for developing and executing strategic operational plans across safety, quality, delivery, cost, and talent. This highly visible leadership role serves as the face of the operations team when interfacing with business partners, senior leaders, external suppliers, and cross-functional teams.
The leader in this role sets a clear vision for the future, drives continuous improvement initiatives for the assigned plant, and elevates both team performance and plant culture through proactive employee development and engagement.
Site Overview
Campus: 4-building facility with fabrication and paint lines separate from assembly
Employees: Approximately 780
Products: Fully customizable Andersen Windows and Doors product line
Near-Term Focus: Stabilize operations through audits, safety/quality improvements, process visibility, and leadership enablement
Mid-Term Focus: Integrate and optimize workflows using lean principles, digital tools, and workforce development
Long-Term Vision: Transform into a sustainable, future-ready operation via layout reconfiguration and strategic partnerships
Primary Responsibilities
Lead the day-to-day operations of a large, complex manufacturing plant comprised of multiple value streams and functional areas, achieving budgeted and strategic performance targets across safety, quality, cost, delivery, and people KPIs.
Serve as the business owner for the plant by leading opportunity identification and strategic plan development. In partnership with functional support teams:
Define key improvement initiatives
Establish a multi-year capital plan
Set operating targets across SQDCP metrics
Leverage Lean operating principles to execute plans, deliver strategic objectives, and capture margin improvement.
Maintain a strong on-site presence and create a safe, inclusive environment that encourages associate participation, hands-on problem solving, and high-involvement management practices.
Effectively operate within a highly matrixed organization, building and sustaining strong relationships with corporate, functional, and business leaders to influence outcomes and drive plant results.
Establish and maintain strong collaboration with internal sourcing and purchasing teams while developing relationships with key external suppliers to proactively identify, address, and improve operational issues.
In alignment with functional leaders, set the vision for performance standards and metrics across safety, quality, cost, delivery, and people, and establish a cadence to review results and drive continuous improvement year over year.
Lead annual fiscal budget development and execution. Partner with Engineering to design and deliver capital projects that maximize productivity, quality, and operational effectiveness.
In partnership with HR leaders, develop and execute a comprehensive talent strategy focused on attraction, development, engagement, and retention.
Oversee daily operational execution, ensuring alignment of resources and priorities across the plant. Develop leaders through coaching, feedback, information sharing, and ongoing support.
Serve as the operational liaison to product line business teams, ensuring operations has strong voice and influence in new product introductions and market developments. Partner cross-functionally to successfully operationalize product changes.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations Leadership, or a related field required; Master’s degree in Business Administration or a related field preferred.
10+ years of experience leading large, complex manufacturing operations.
5+ years of experience leading Lean manufacturing initiatives.
5+ years of experience partnering cross-functionally to develop and deliver large-scale capital projects ($500M+).
Proven experience developing and executing strategic plans to improve safety, quality, delivery, cost, and talent outcomes.
Demonstrated ability to present complex topics, performance metrics, and strategic recommendations to senior leadership.
Experience partnering with health and safety teams to improve workplace safety performance.
Strong background in cost accounting, budgeting, and financial justification (IRR/ROI).
Experience articulating engineering and quality requirements, collaborating cross-functionally, and executing improvement initiatives.
Experience facilitating Kaizen events and implementing daily management systems.
