
Maintenance Director

Position Summary
CST Industries is seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Maintenance to lead maintenance operations across all North American manufacturing facilities, with a strong emphasis on our DeKalb, Illinois plant. This role is responsible for driving maintenance excellence, improving operational reliability, and implementing standardized processes to support production efficiency, safety, and long-term asset performance.
The ideal candidate is a hands‑on industrial maintenance leader with strong technical expertise and a proven ability to implement continuous improvement initiatives across multiple facilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee and standardize maintenance processes across all North American CST plants
Lead maintenance improvements with primary focus on the DeKalb, Illinois facility
Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs
Establish KPIs, performance metrics, and maintenance planning strategies
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce downtime and increase equipment reliability
Ensure compliance with all safety standards and regulatory requirements
Manage capital improvement and equipment upgrade projects
Develop, mentor, and lead maintenance teams across facilities
Collaborate with plant leadership to align maintenance strategies with production goals
Oversee budgeting, resource planning, and cost control initiatives

7–15 years of progressive experience in industrial maintenance
Strong technical knowledge in:
Plumbing systems
Hydraulics
Pneumatics
Industrial electrical systems
Demonstrated leadership experience in a manufacturing environment
Experience implementing process improvement initiatives
Strong planning, goal-setting, and execution capabilities
Safety certifications and deep understanding of workplace safety standards
Excellent communication and organizational skills
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
BA/BBA/BS in business administration or relevant field; MBA preferred
Proven experience as Managing Director or other managerial position
Background in industrial maintenance settings
Experience with “best in class” industrial company preferred
Demonstrated experience of continuous success in profession
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret CST and customer prints and documents.
Ability to write routine reports in a professional manner.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide whole, fractional and decimal numbers.
REASONING ABILITY
Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
Handle problems involving variables in a standardized situation.
Ability to make decisions and know when/where to make concessions.
COMPUTER SKILLS
Advanced level of knowledge of Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook.
