Space Planner / Junior Designer - Job Description Position: SPACE PLANNER / JUNIOR DESIGNER

Hours:

Full-Time, 40 hours per week

Salary Range:

$40,000 - $45,000

POSITION SUMMARY:

We're looking for an energetic and creative designer to join our dynamic team at Rieke Interiors, where we specialize in crafting custom furniture solutions. As a Space Planner/Junior Designer at Rieke Office Interiors, you will collaborate closely with our sales account managers to creatively and effectively meet clients' needs through both furniture and overall design considerations. Your responsibilities will include completing detailed drawings, creating quotes based on furniture specifications and new products, and presenting them all in a professional package for client approval. Projects range from simple chair orders to multi-million-dollar office designs, involving new spaces, reconfigurations, and everything from basic block plans to comprehensive design scopes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Working in a CAD environment to space plan furniture

Uses Microvellum to specify the Rieke Product

Specifies soft seating, accessories, and other commercial products

Attend meetings with account managers on a weekly basis to receive job information

Attend vendor meetings for continued knowledge/job growth

Attend production meetings as needed based on project scope

Turn in orders and verify all information is correct

Verify field measure paperwork to ensure furniture will fit correctly

Assist sales by selecting finishes (for soft seating, Rieke product) when required/asked

Coordinate custom job requirements with internal teams to ensure product is priced correctly

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's Degree preferred, Associate's degree in interior architecture, interior design or related field

Experience with AutoCAD required

Proficiency in concept development, space planning, architectural drafting, and ideation sketching

Demonstrates a strong ability to transform ideas into functional and visually compelling designs

Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

Ability to utilize problem solving skills

Time and organizational management skills required

Knowledge of building codes, electrical codes and ADA requirements

Ability to communicate effectively both internally and with clients is required
