
Interior Designer - Prototype and Package Development

The Interior Designer (Temporary) supports the Studio Design team with the development, refinement, and implementation of brand prototypes and design packages. This role focuses on FF&E selection and specification, value engineering, construction documentation updates, budgeting, and the creation of finish sample packages and internal tools. This position is primarily production- and documentation-focused, supporting brand design initiatives and prototype updates across public areas and guestrooms.
Supports Prototype & Package Development Assists with the selection, specification, and documentation of furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E) to align with approved brand renderings and design intent. Revises and updates FF&E specifications as needed due to value engineering, vendor changes, or product discontinuations. Collaborates with vendors to identify budget-conscious, brand-appropriate solutions. Develops preliminary budgets and pricing comparisons to ensure design concepts align with cost targets.
Documentation & Technical Production Creates and updates interior construction document drawing sets to align with approved FF&E and finish specifications. Incorporates FF&E information into internal tracking tools and databases (e.g., Smartsheet or similar platforms). Assists in maintaining composite sheets, order guides, and related documentation for prototype and package programs. Develops internal tools and resources such as CAD blocks, image libraries, SketchUp models, and other technical assets. Updates renderings to reflect revised selections and approved design changes. Prepares finish sample packages for internal review, marketing, and member use. Assists in developing collateral materials to support the rollout and marketing of new or updated design packages.
Program & Library Support Assists with the organization and archival of prototype documentation and digital assets. Maintains finish libraries and sample materials. Provides support for internal design installations, vignettes, or studio initiatives as needed.
Quality & Brand Standards Ensures all work aligns with Company design standards and brand aesthetic guidelines. Maintains accuracy, organization, and attention to detail across all deliverables.
Experience Minimum 3–5 years of professional interior design experience in hospitality, commercial, or prototype-based environments. Experience with FF&E specification writing and construction document production required. Hospitality or branded environment experience strongly preferred. Experience supporting value engineering efforts and vendor coordination preferred.
Education Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
Skills Proficiency in AutoCAD (required); SketchUp and rendering software preferred. Experience writing and managing FF&E specifications. Experience developing preliminary budgets and working within cost targets. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Smartsheet or similar project management/database tools preferred. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple prototype/package tasks simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment. Clear written and visual communication skills. NCIDQ certification preferred but not required.
