Requirements

A minimum of two (2) years of professional work experience in one or more of the following areas: criminal justice, military intelligence, law enforcement, conducting research/interviews, data analysis, investigations, administrative assistant/executive assistant is required.

A post‑secondary degree from an accredited university/college may be used as an alternative for the years of professional work experience on a year‑for‑year basis.

Proficient in using Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)

Valid driver’s license from the Florida Department of Safety and Motor Vehicles by the time of employment.

Preferences

A degree from an accredited college or university.

Special consideration may be given to eligible candidates who have bilingual verbal and written skills that meet a critical need of the agency’s mission.

Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle.

Selection Process Selection is a three‑to‑six‑month process where the successful applicant must pass the oral interview, written exam, and CJSTC background prior to beginning. If selected for an interview, it will be conducted in person.

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge of record writing techniques.

Knowledge of research and intelligence analysis techniques.

Knowledge of procedures and techniques for effective verbal and written communication.

Ability to analyze, interpret and summarize criminal intelligence data.

Ability to review large amounts of criminal intelligence data and determine its significance, completeness and usefulness.

Ability to write reports, investigative summaries and memoranda resulting from information analysis.

Ability to report information clearly, concisely and accurately, both verbally and in writing.

Ability to coordinate the dissemination of information.

Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.

Ability to make independent decisions.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

Brief Description of Duties

Perform criminal history and intelligence checks with reference to investigations for all sworn personnel as directed.

Directly support and assist investigators in the compilation and analysis of confidential information regarding insurance fraud investigations. Recommend investigative directions based upon such information and be proficient in the use of a personal computer.

Perform detailed research of criminal investigations and documents related to insurance fraud and arson.

Request and receive confidential information; communicate clearly and effectively orally, in writing, by radio and telephone.

Compile, analyze and disseminate criminal intelligence from various agencies, the public and other sources, and utilize these sources to maintain the exchange of pertinent information among law enforcement agencies.

Coordinate inter‑state and intra‑state information regarding criminal activity involving insurance fraud and arson, exercising judgment to ensure that accurate and reliable information is disseminated.

Evaluate and analyze criminal intelligence to predict capabilities, intentions and vulnerabilities of individuals and groups engaged in insurance fraud and recommend investigative strategies.

Prepare oral briefings, written reports and recommendations in the form of intelligence assessments and detailed factual reports used by agency management and field supervisors to evaluate investigative priorities in case development.

Determine structure and operation of insurance/arson operations by researching and analyzing intelligence information on patterns, trends, and movements of groups for use by management.

Participate in search warrants by sketching site diagrams, logging evidence, printing evidence labels and inventory lists.

Serve as Terminal Agency Coordinator (TAC) for FCIC/NCIC terminal, ensuring proper procedures are followed regarding security and dissemination of criminal history information. Must obtain and maintain FCIC/NCIC certification.

Serve as a resource person, respond to requests for information from other agencies and represent the division in meetings. This position may require participation on the disaster team, overtime, and attendance at meetings, training, conferences and seminars, potentially requiring extended travel.
