
Division Order Analyst

The Division Order Analyst reports to the Division Order Manager and is responsible for establishing, maintaining, and validating ownership records for Surge Energy’s operated and non‑operated assets. This role ensures accurate revenue distribution, compliance with state and federal regulations, and effective communication with internal and external stakeholders. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical capability, sound judgment, and a commitment to accuracy in managing complex title and ownership scenarios across multiple projects in a timely and effective manner.
Key Responsibilities
Create, analyze, and maintain
divisions of interest (DOIs)
for operated and non‑operated properties, ensuring timely setup of revenue and joint interest billing decks in compliance with regulatory requirements.
Interpret and apply
title opinions, leases, assignments, probate documents, conveyances, pooling declarations, and joint operating agreements
to establish accurate ownership.
Prepare and issue
division orders and transfer orders
for newly drilled wells, recompletions, and ownership changes.
Process
Working Interest (WI)
and
Royalty Interest (RI)
transfers, including ownership changes due to sales, probate, mergers, and other conveyances.
Collaborate with in‑house and field Landmen to obtain and cure title defects; coordinate with legal resources as needed.
Respond to inquiries from royalty owners, WI partners, and internal teams regarding ownership, payments, and title matters.
Partner closely with
Land, Accounting, Revenue, and Operations groups
to ensure alignment on ownership changes, deck setup, and revenue distribution.
Maintain accurate and timely data entry in land and revenue systems, ensuring data integrity and audit readiness.
Build and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders, including mineral owners, operators, and industry partners.
Ensures Accountability
— Takes ownership of accuracy, deadlines, and compliance in DOI setup and maintenance.
Manages Complexity
— Interprets intricate title documents, legal instruments, and ownership scenarios with sound judgment.
Plans & Aligns
— Prioritizes workload effectively to meet statutory deadlines and internal operational needs.
Collaborates
— Works seamlessly with Land, Accounting, Operations, and external stakeholders.

— Conveys technical information clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiences.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in
Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Energy Management , or related field.
Minimum
5+ years of oil & gas experience
in Division Order, Land Administration, or related discipline.
Strong ability to interpret complex legal and contractual documents and apply them to ownership determinations.
High attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy and compliance.
Demonstrated analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain ownership and payment matters to non‑technical stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative team environment.
Proficient in
Microsoft Office Suite
and
Adobe Acrobat
Tech and systems savvy with demonstrated expertise and mastery of Land Software systems/programs.
Preferred Qualifications
CDOA certification
Experience with Quorum Software Suite
