We are seeking a talented and passionate Assistant Choir Director to join our music program. The Assistant Choir Director will work closely with the Choir Director to plan, organize, and execute rehearsals and performances. They will assist in teaching vocal techniques, music theory, and sight-reading skills to choir members. The ideal candidate will have a strong musical background, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with both students and staff.
Responsibilities:
Assist the Choir Director in planning and conducting choir rehearsals.
Help select repertoire for performances and competitions.
Provide vocal coaching and instruction to choir members, focusing on technique, tone, and expression.
Assist in teaching music theory and sight-reading skills.
Collaborate with the Choir Director to organize and coordinate performances, including concerts, recitals, and competitions.
Assist with administrative tasks such as maintaining attendance records, communicating with choir members and parents, and managing music library.
Support the Choir Director in recruiting and auditioning new choir members.
Attend performances, competitions, and other choir-related events as needed.
Foster a positive and supportive environment that encourages musical growth and creativity among choir members.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Music, Music Education, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
Prior experience singing in and/or directing choirs.
Strong vocal and conducting skills.
Knowledge of vocal techniques, music theory, and sight-reading.
Ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, and parents.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Organizational skills and attention to detail.
Passion for music education and a commitment to fostering a love of singing in others.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience working with choirs in an educational or community setting.
Experience with vocal arranging or composition.
Familiarity with a variety of musical styles and genres.
