Woodlands Academy of the Sacred Heart in Lake Forest, IL, seeks a detail-oriented, responsible, creative, energetic, and mature female with an interest in mentoring international and domestic high school students at this all-girls college-preparatory day and boarding school.

The Residence Life Coordinator reports to the Director of Residence Life and resides in the boarding school. She is part of a team that is responsible for building community, developing programs, and enforcing school policy in an atmosphere of care, respect, and compassion. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic, nurturing, and committed to helping high school girls ages 14-19 grow and prosper within the boarding school environment.

Job responsibilities include working with the Residence Life team to:

Act as in loco parentis, therefore responsible for ensuring that the residents are safe, nurtured, and supported

Support and celebrate the ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds of the boarding students

Foster healthy relationships by building community with boarding students, parents, and colleagues

Support student leadership opportunities and community participation

Provide a structured environment by ensuring that school policies and routines are communicated and followed

Plan and facilitate creative after‑school and weekend programs and activities for boarding students

Provide transportation to Residence Life‑sponsored activities, appointments, and airport runs in school vehicles, including the 14‑passenger van and Highlander SUV

Provide support for students as it relates to personal and mental health, well‑being, and academics, including monitoring homework and academic progress; administer and log prescription and over‑the‑counter medications via the REACH system; follow sick and mental health day protocols and coordinate with medical providers as needed

Oversee daily operations of Residence Life, including managing student check‑ins via the REACH system, authorizing student departures for off‑campus activities, maintaining duty reports through REACH, and coordinating with the duty partner and Director on all scheduling and student matters

Supervise meals and evening study hall

Conduct weekly room inspections for cleanliness, organization, and fire safety; follow up with students who fail inspections and document outcomes

Coordinate sick and mental health day protocols, including accompanying students to medical appointments as in loco parentis and maintaining student medical records and insurance documentation

Attend mandatory school events as a parental representative for boarding students, including the Mater Ceremony, Ring Ceremony, school Masses, staff meetings, and other events as assigned by the Director

Assist with break checkout and arrival procedures, including conducting final room checks, managing student key and badge returns, and providing transportation

Communicate any student well‑being, safety, behavioral, and/or environment concerns to the Director of Residence Life and other staff in a timely manner

Monitor duty phones, respond to emergencies as required, enforce sign‑in and in‑room curfew procedures, and complete all end‑of‑evening closing duties (locking common areas, arming floor alarms, updating boards)

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree, required

Previous experience, preferred

Must possess a valid driver’s license and the willingness and ability to drive a 14‑passenger bus (special license not required; training provided)

Residence Life Coordinators work on a rotating schedule: weekday shifts are 6:45–8:15 a.m. and 2:45–11:00 p.m.; weekend and no‑school day shifts are 8:45 a.m.–11:00 p.m. Some holidays and travel days require all‑staff participation. Staff attend weekly staff meetings and any mandatory training and school events.

Excellent interpersonal (relationship) and communication skills

Positive attitude and dedication to teamwork

Ability to make decisions, problem‑solve, and use sound judgment

International and multicultural exposure, preferred

Frequently ascend/descend stairs to access different parts of the building

Must be willing to submit to all required background checks and safety compliance items
