Mercana is seeking a self-employed independent sales representative to represent Mercana Furniture & Décor to a portfolio of retail storefront accounts within a designated geographic region. The representative is a furniture and home décor professional with a proven ability to cultivate and maintain highly productive sales relationships across a broad range of retail formats and ensure that Mercana’s customers are highly engaged and satisfied. Location Flexible. The representative should be based in the territory (AR & OK) and be able to travel and service accounts throughout the region.
Responsibilities Sales
Meet or exceed sales budgets and metrics within a designated geographic region (territory).
Develop the right solution for the customers’ evolving business requirements with a customer-first approach.
Attend trade shows and build productive trust-infused relationships with new and existing buyers in the specified territory.
Travel to visit key customers and prospective customers throughout the territory as required to secure business and develop relationships.
Sales Growth & Business Development
Identify and pursue new retail business opportunities within the territory.
Regularly reach out and engage with prospective accounts within the territory to consistently expand the customer base.
Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and customer demands to develop strategies for increasing sales.
Customer Engagement
Understand the unique needs and preferences of each customer including business issues, communication needs, buying motives, and cadence.
Build trust, loyalty and solid long-term relationships with key decision makers.
Collaboratively build product strategies with customers that contribute to sales growth and to product and inventory planning.
Represent Mercana
Represent Mercana Furniture and Décor in a professional manner with a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
Demonstrate strong knowledge and expertise in products and categories and the overall market.
Become familiar with Mercana’s operational processes, systems, and reporting and help support customers around these processes while collaborating closely with the operations team to ensure the seamless processing of orders, claims, and other customer issues.
Prepare sales plans and quotation data reports on a monthly basis.
Qualifications
3 to 5 years in the furniture or home décor industry.
Minimum 2 years working as an independent representative.
Previous experience in wholesale distribution, product sales, logistics, and/or ocean shipping preferred.
Customer-service oriented individual familiar with retail and retail buying decision making.
Ability to travel with the territory to visit key customers and to trade shows when required.
Highly motivated self-starter with a high level of attention to detail.
Valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle.
