The Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene is seeking a qualified applicant to fill a full-time IPS Implementation Specialist position for the Division of Behavioral Health Services and Policy Research at the New York State Psychiatric Institute. The IPS Implementation Specialist/Trainer selected for this position will provide training, program evaluation, and on-going technical assistance to IPS employment specialists, vocational staff members and program supervisors and managers at mental health provider agencies, and counties in California.
The incumbent will have primary responsibility for training and technical assistance activities related to IPS and will receive supervision and support from the initiative's lead and other senior staff.
Applicant must live in the state of California.
In order to provide the essential training and technical assistance with the necessary intensity and frequency for sites, incumbent will have regular and consistent contact with sites. This will occur through remote and on-site consultation visits as well as through face-to-face regional training sessions, on-line meetings, and webinars. Additionally, on-site program evaluations and fidelity report writing will be essential functions of the job.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Implementation Specialist will provide Individual Placement and Support (IPS) training and technical assistance within California
This position requires regular overnight travel
Provide in-person group training or virtual group training to IPS specialists, IPS supervisors, mental health practitioners, and state Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors.
Assist counties developing an IPS supported employment implementation plan.
Through field mentoring, including skills demonstration, shadowing, and giving feedback, teach IPS supervisors how to coach frontline staff.
Ensure that programmatic structure and agency culture support competitive integrated employment as an outcome.
Identify barriers to implementing integrated services and facilitate resolutions.
Provide ongoing consultation and guidance to counties regarding expanding and sustaining good-fidelity IPS.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in rehabilitation counseling, counseling, psychology, social work, or related human services area or the equivalent; OR (6) years of relevant experience in mental health services and vocational services or supported employment in a mental health system.
(1) year of relevant experience as an IPS trainer, IPS Supervisor or VR/DOR Counselor who worked with an IPS program.
This position will be located in California
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in a related field preferred.
At least (3) years' experience as an IPS trainer and fidelity reviewer is preferred, though experience as an IPS supervisor is also desirable.
(1) year of experience working with programs that serve young adults and use of the IPS-Y scale is preferred.
(1) year of experience working on an ACT team (or with ACT teams) is preferred
