Job Summary The Marketing and Communications Coordinator for the Office of Undergraduate Studies develops and executes communications that promote recruitment, retention, and career readiness programs within the McCausland College of Arts and Sciences. This role strengthens affinity for the College among key audiences—including prospective and admitted students, employers, faculty, staff, and community members—by building strong relationships and increasing visibility for programs and events. Effective communications will support higher engagement, improved attendance, and stronger recruitment and retention outcomes.
Minimum Required Education and Experience Requires a bachelor’s degree in a job-related field and 2 or more years of job-related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job-related certification, training, education, and/or experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and 2 years experience in communications and electronic media, and/or public relations and marketing.
Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite preferred.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
Ability to plan and organize multiple projects simultaneously while working independently.
Basic graphic design skills and experience with Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, or similar programs.
Job Duties
Plan, create, and distribute electronic communications to campus and external audiences in coordination with the Communications and Admissions teams. (25% of time) Collaborate with Office of Undergraduate Studies staff to determine content for emails and newsletters. Develop communication templates in partnership with the Communications team and manage email campaigns according to established schedules. Monitor performance metrics for email and social media campaigns and provide regular reports to assess effectiveness. Ensure communications are accurate, high-quality, and aligned with college standards.
Coordinate the creation and distribution of promotional materials for Office of Undergraduate Studies events, including designing invitations, flyers, posters, digital media, PowerPoint presentations, registration websites, advertisements, promotional items, event signage, and calendar entries. Obtain printing quotes as needed and manage print orders through USC Printing or approved external vendors. Collaborate with the Director of Communications to identify and support photo, video, and media relations opportunities related to events. (15% of time)
Manage and maintain content for the Office of Undergraduate Studies sections of the McCausland College of Arts and Sciences website, including pages related to student ambassadors, recruitment and retention, and career readiness. Regularly review these pages to ensure information is accurate, up to date, and aligned with current initiatives. Collaborate with the College’s web manager and communications staff to ensure all pages meet university web standards and follow best practices. Stay current on required university web training and apply updates as needed.
Coordinate, in collaboration with supervisor and the college Communications team, Office of Undergraduate Studies storytelling initiatives—such as the Annual Report, social media campaigns, and student spotlights—by gathering content, coordinating reviews and approvals, and ensuring consistent messaging across all communication channels. (10% of time)
Support the activities of the Office of Undergraduate Studies recruitment and experiential learning teams by assisting with the promotion of, preparations for, and implementation of office activities and events, as directed by supervisor.
In consultation with supervisor, identify and complete relevant training and professional development to enhance job skills, and contribute to the success of the Office of Undergraduate Studies and the McCausland College of Arts and Sciences by performing all other duties as assigned by supervisor.
