Description:

Conducts investigations of complaints involving charitable organizations and charitable assets to ensure compliance with Oklahoma law. The Charity Enforcement Investigator will also assist the Charity Enforcement Unit staff with other inquiries and the development of investigative processes as necessary. This is not a law enforcement position and CLEET certification is not necessary.

Unit Summary:

The Charity Enforcement Unit (CEU) carries out the Office of the Attorney General’s (OAG) authority to protect the public’s interests in charitable assets by enforcing the Solicitation of Charitable Contributions Act, the Uniform Prudent Management of Institutional Funds Act, and other state laws. CEU reviews complaints and conducts investigations into potential wrongdoing by charities, charitable solicitors, and persons responsible for charitable funds. CEU also reviews statutorily required notices of certain litigation and other actions affecting charities and charitable assets. In addition, CEU aims to promote more effective giving and charitable operations by conducting outreach and training for donors and boards of directors.

Essential Functions

Review complaints submitted to CEU

Develop and investigate cases

Communicate and collaborate with other Investigators, Supervisory Investigator, Oklahoma Office of the Attorney General ("OAG") Attorneys, and Analysts

Interview witnesses and then document findings

Effectively and professionally research, prepare, analyze, and understand complex information

Develop and master knowledge of the available sources of investigative information

Maintain the integrity of the OAG as well as the confidentiality of information as required by the Attorney General

Demonstrate sound judgment and excellent report writing skills

Prepare and provide testimony in courtroom settings

Required Qualifications

Ability to analyze information, identify patterns, and draw logical conclusions

Possess a valid Oklahoma driver's license

Preference Will Be Given To Individuals With

A bachelor’s degree

At least two years of experience conducting criminal or civil investigations

Accounting experience

Experience with or knowledge of charitable organization operations
