An associate degree in engineering or architectural fields is a plus but not required
Proficiency working with
AutoCAD is required . Experience with other tools, such as Revit, Navisworks, PIPE-FLO, or other similar tools is a plus.
Experience in HVAC design standards and codes
including ASHRAE 62.1, IMC, NFPA 90A, and local building codes relevant to mechanical system design.
Experience with designs that contain HVAC systems, chillers, boilers, pump hydraulics, exhaust, process chemicals, wastewater discharge, or other similar mechanical building systems.
Overview We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Designer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will engage in the design process of cutting‑edge industrial and high‑tech manufacturing facilities for some of the world’s leading high‑tech enterprises. As a Mechanical Designer at SSOE, you will collaborate with fellow designers, engineering teams, and Senior Project Managers to develop innovative solutions for intricate and challenging designs, incorporating the latest design methodologies while ensuring adherence to specifications and timely project completion. This position is an onsite role that will require you to work onsite each day and be in the N. Phoenix, AZ area. Remote or hybrid work arrangements for this role are not available.
Responsibilities
Produce comprehensive technical project plans, specifications, drawings, and models aligning with project requirements and client expectations.
Lead the creation, refinement, and finalization of designs encompassing industrial and domestic piping, plumbing, HVAC ducting, chillers, boilers, exhaust systems, motor control, process chemicals, fire protection, and potentially other mechanical building systems.
Design heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems to maintain precise environmental conditions that include specific materials, specifications, and/or implement measures to control factors like temperature, humidity, air filtration, particle levels, etc.
Apply established design techniques, exercising judgment to adapt and modify design concepts while ensuring compliance with company and team CAD standards for quality control.
Collaborate with mechanical engineers to perform load calculations, airflow balancing, and equipment sizing to maintain precise temperature, humidity, and air quality control environments.
Collaborate closely with design teams, Engineers, Project Managers, and stakeholders to address specific objectives, complex features, and propose viable solutions to unique challenges.
Facilitate seamless coordination among various design disciplines (Electrical, Structural, Process/Chemical, Architectural, etc.) to fulfill design package requirements.
Conduct field verifications and site assessments to identify, verify, resolve, and integrate solutions into design packages, troubleshooting design issues during construction as necessary.
