The Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce of Washington D.C. (SACC-DC) is a nonprofit membership organization dedicated to developing business relations between the United States and Sweden. Job Description
Would you like to gain hands‑on experience in Washington, D.C.? The Swedish‑American Chamber of Commerce of Washington, D.C. (SACC‑DC) is hiring a Marketing / Business intern to start in July 2026.
The internship is a 12‑month, full‑time program divided into two phases: six months at SACC‑DC and a six‑month part‑time arrangement shared between the SACC‑DC office and a SACC‑DC member organization. This setup enables the intern to gain extensive experience in both the nonprofit and commercial sectors throughout their year in D.C. Previous interns have been placed at companies such as Volvo Cars, AstraZeneca, Axis Communications, SAAB North America, Haypp Group, Pillsbury, and Skanska.
Phase 2 of the internship is paid, and the intern receives a stipend funded through the Lars Bjerde Fund. Washington, D.C. is a vibrant city and international hub. SACC‑DC works at the intersection of politics and business and is part of a dynamic team at the House of Sweden on the Georgetown waterfront.
After finishing their internship at SACC‑DC, the intern will have acquired practical experience and built a wide network to advance their international careers.
Responsibilities
Manage our social media accounts, edit communication materials such as the monthly newsletter, conduct interviews, and create other content.
Assist in organizing and planning events, including both major flagship programs and smaller luncheons or speaker events.
Support the Chamber and its members in marketing activities.
Work closely with the Executive Director and the rest of the office team to plan company visits and program high‑ranking official delegation visits.
Manage regular administrative duties.
Actively engage in communication initiatives and member services and oversee the day‑to‑day operations of the SACC‑DC office.
Facilitate network opportunities through the Young Professionals program.
Requirements
Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a university program in a relevant field of study.
Swedish citizenship or significant connections to Sweden (for U.S. visa purposes).
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills in both Swedish and English.
Experience with design tools such as Canva or InDesign.
Writing experience.
Excellent project‑management skills.
Capability to take initiative and work independently.
PLEASE NOTE:
