The Revenue Analyst supports the finance team in monitoring revenue performance, ensuring accurate revenue recognition in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and providing meaningful insights to help drive strategic business decisions. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and willing to partner with cross-functional teams to contribute to financial planning, reporting, and process improvement.
Responsibilities of Position:
Map, document, and maintain end-to-end revenue processes (order-to-cash), identifying inefficiencies, control gaps, and opportunities for process improvement and automation
Ensure revenue recognition complies with ASC 606, including evaluation of customer contracts, identification of performance obligations, and revenue timing
Partner cross-functionally with Sales, Legal, and Financial Leadership to review and assess revenue recognition impacts
Drive improvements to existing revenue-related systems (AS400/IPAK, CRM extensions) ensuring accurate data flows and alignment with revenue accounting requirements
Collaborate with IT and systems teams on requirements gathering, user acceptance testing (UAT), and issue resolution for revenue systems enhancements
Perform detailed monthly revenue variance analyses versus prior periods and budgets, clearly identifying key drivers and explaining trends
Analyze revenue performance by product, customer, geography, and contract type to provide actionable insights to finance leadership
Develop and maintain standardized reporting, dashboards, and variance analysis tools to improve visibility into revenue drivers
Reconcile revenue subledgers to the general ledger and investigate discrepancies to ensure data accuracy and completeness or related journal entries
Prepare documentation, schedules, and analyses to support enhanced internal controls and support the external audits process
Continuously improve revenue reporting processes in support of ongoing M&A activity
Perform other duties as assigned
Supervisory Responsibility:
This position will not manage employees
Skills & Abilities Needed for Position:
Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and their application in financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting
Proven ability to analyze and interpret financial information, with the ability to communicate complex findings to technical and non-technical team members
Maintain confidentiality and trust around sensitive accounting issues with high degree of integrity
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Excel
Experience & Knowledge Needed for Position:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from an accredited university or college required
CPA or Master’s Degree required
3-5 Years experience in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
Waste Industry knowledge preferred
Physical Requirements in a Regular Workday:
Rarely lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling a max of 10 lbs
Frequently sitting
Occasionally standing/walking
Additional Working Conditions/Aspects:
Legally eligible to work in the United States
Valid driver’s license (if applicable)
Must successfully complete pre-employment testing
Must be able to read and speak the English language
