
Sales Engineer – Manufacturing

Flow Science seeks a dynamic Sales Engineer to drive growth in metal casting and manufacturing applications through technical expertise and consultative selling. This role combines deep CFD knowledge with business development skills to identify opportunities, architect solutions, and build lasting customer relationships across diverse manufacturing sectors.
Technical Sales & Business Development
Drive revenue growth by identifying and pursuing CFD opportunities in manufacturing applications, including metal casting, welding, additive manufacturing, coating processes, and fluid handling systems
Conduct technical presentations, product demonstrations, webinars and proof-of-concept projects to showcase

products’ capabilities
Collaborate with prospects to understand complex manufacturing challenges and architect tailored CFD solutions
Support the complete sales cycle from lead qualification through contract closure and implementation planning, adding value for our customers in manufacturing
Customer Engagement & Relationship Management
Build and maintain strategic relationships with manufacturing engineers, tooling engineers, plant managers, R&D team and technical decision-makers
Provide pre-sales technical consulting to help customers optimize manufacturing processes through CFD analysis
Work closely with existing customers to identify expansion opportunities and ensure successful solution adoption
Represent
FLOW-3D
products at industry conferences, trade shows, and technical symposiums
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with technical support and development teams to address complex customer requirements
Collaborate with marketing to develop industry-specific content, webinars, case studies, and technical documentation
Provide market feedback to product development teams regarding manufacturing industry needs and trends
Support training initiatives and knowledge transfer for new manufacturing applications
Required Skills & Experience Technical Background
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Materials, Manufacturing or related engineering discipline
3+ years of experience in metal casting, manufacturing engineering, process optimization, or technical sales
Strong understanding of fluid dynamics principles and CFD applications, specifically in metal casting applications
Familiarity with manufacturing processes such as high pressure casting (including giga castings), gravity castings, additive manufacturing and other manufacturing processes
Proven track record in technical sales, consulting or customer-facing engineering roles
Excellent presentation and communication skills with ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences
Experience with consultative selling and solution-based sales methodologies
Strong project management and organizational capabilities
Industry Knowledge
A good understanding of manufacturing industry challenges, quality requirements, and regulatory considerations
Excellent CAD software skills and proficiency with engineering simulation tools
Familiarity with manufacturing software ecosystems and integration requirements
Preferred Skills & Experience
Experience with
FLOW-3D
or similar casting simulation software packages
Advanced degree in engineering or related technical field
Previous experience in manufacturing sectors such as automotive, aerospace, consumer products, or process industries
Professional engineering license or relevant industry certifications
Travel Requirements This position is based in Chapel Hill, NC and requires approximately 25-40% travel to customer sites, conferences, and industry events.
