Job Description Duties and Responsibilities Customer Service & Sales Support
Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with an emphasis on fast, friendly service.
Assist customers with product suggestions and make intercom announcements as needed.
Engage in suggestive selling and other sales techniques through telephone, intercom, and direct customer interactions.
Answer incoming calls professionally; resolve customer concerns and elevate to the Store Director when appropriate.
Department Operations & Produce Handling
Assist with planning daily operations and monitoring production processes to ensure adherence to company standards and profitability goals.
Trim, cut, wrap, tray, display, and water produce according to department standards.
Build, rotate, and maintain produce displays; remove outdated or spoiled product.
Ensure overall cleanliness and sanitation of the work area and department.
Implement correct product preparation and handling techniques using related equipment such as pallet jacks, hand trucks, scissors, knives, safety cutters, and Sterilox machines.
Operate and maintain the Salad Bar and Fresh‑Made areas when applicable.
Maintain all produce at proper temperature levels during preparation, display, and storage.
Leadership, Scheduling & Staff Development
Monitor employee productivity and assist in evaluating performance.
Assist with scheduling employees to ensure adequate coverage and consistent service levels.
Demonstrate specific knowledge of duties performed by all department employees, including opening and closing procedures.
Train employees on store policies, sales procedures, and record‑keeping practices.
Ensure department standards—including Fresh‑Made expectations and product freshness—are consistently maintained.
Inventory, Merchandising & Quality Control
Assist with controlling inventory to ensure proper product quantity, quality, and freshness while following division directives.
Stock, rotate, and maintain produce items; organize and maintain produce coolers.
Implement effective promotional and seasonal displays.
Control shrink and manage departmental cost levels effectively.
Enforce proper code‑dating for all department products and ensure compliance with company policy.
Receiving, Documentation & Compliance
Perform receiving duties including breaking down loads, verifying orders against invoices, inspecting quality, reporting shortages, stocking, and rotating product.
Follow product temperature guidelines, storage expectations, and proper packaging techniques.
Accurately complete, maintain, and monitor required logs and paperwork, including daily log sheets, Fresh‑Made Production Charts, and sales and labor reports.
Assist with physical inventory every four weeks.
Maintain a working knowledge of company policies and guidelines as outlined in the Albertsons/Tom Thumb Employee Handbook.

Pay Transparency:
Starting rates will be no less than the local minimum wage and may vary based on things like location, experience, qualifications, and the terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement. Candidates with unique qualifications may be considered for compensation above this range. Dependent on length of service, hours worked, any applicable collective bargaining agreement and/or Company policy, benefits may include medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance, sick pay*, PTO/Vacation pay*, paid holidays*, bereavement pay and retirement benefits (pension and/or 401(k) eligibility). Associates in this position may be eligible for a quarterly bonus, subject to Company bonus plans. Applications are accepted on an on‑going basis.
