Hiring for summer and through the 2025-26 school year, or starting in fall 2025.
Get paid to gain professional editorial experience. As an editorial assistant, you will work with and learn from a team of experienced journalists, editors and public relations professionals to post content to university webpages, including the UWM Report news site and the campus calendar. You can set your own hours to best fit your schedule and work remotely as needed, however each weekday you will need to compile reports on external media coverage about UWM and make decisions about which news stories should be posted to the news site . Ideal candidates are detail-oriented, meticulous workers.
Job Duties
Meticulously reading external media coverage to determine if stories are relevant to UW-Milwaukee and posting stories to UWM Report news site
Sending daily reports on media coverage to the UW System office in Madison
Writing and posting error-free campus announcements and event pages to university WordPress sites
Following conventions of AP Stylebook and UWM Editorial Style Guide
Qualifications
Ability to work every weekday, Monday-Friday, for at least two hours per day
Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and proofreading abilities
Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
Ability to work quickly and adhere to deadlinesAbility to find sources and check claims for factual accuracy
Ability to learn and follow style guides
Familiarity with AP Style is preferred
Compensation, Hours and Location
$15 per hour
15-20 flexible hours per week, up to 20 during summer
