Summary
The Office of Alumni Engagement at Oakland University is seeking a highly-motivated and enthusiastic undergraduate student intern. The ideal candidate will bring a strong work ethic and positive attitude, and will be able to work up to 20 hours per week during the academic year and up to 20 hours per week through the summer.
*This position begins this summer and will continue through the following school year.
Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Alumni Engagement, the communications intern will be responsible for assisting in the facilitation of alumni e-communications, managing social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn), creating video promotions, graphics, and any other duties as assigned in support of the Alumni Engagement team and the OU Alumni Association. Strong computer skills and knowledge of basic office software, digital technology, and social media required, with additional training available. The position is located on east campus in the John Dodge House.
Job Duties
Assist with graphic design for social media posts, alumni events and programs, etc. utilizing Canva design software
Manage OU Alumni social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn), including creating content, generating ideas, scheduling posts/content, researching best practices, and reporting out on data
Assist with event communication, graphic design, video promotions, and follow up correspondence
Research campus collaborations and alumni success stories for promotion
Assist with virtual meetings/events as needed
Assist with other Alumni Office projects as needed
Desired Qualifications
Current OU undergraduate student: sophomore or junior standing preferred
Graphic Design, Marketing, or Communications major preferred
Strong comfort level with technology, proficiency in graphic design software, video production and/or editing software
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Savvy in multiple social media platforms
Ability to work independently, as well as on a team
Compensation and Hours Salary:
$15 per hour
Number of hours:
20 hours per week fall and winter semester, up to 20 hours per week summer semester
