About the Role
Avion Hospitality is seeking a detail-oriented Senior Sales Tax Analyst to join our tax team. This position will assist in ensuring the accuracy of sales tax accounting records, resolve discrepancies, assist audit research, assist with transitioning of hotels, and support compliance across multiple jurisdictions. This role will work closely with accounting, IT, and compliance teams to strengthen processes and maintain accurate tax data.
Key Responsibilities General Ledger Reconciliation
Reconcile sales tax-related general ledger accounts
Investigate and resolve variances
Maintain supporting records / documentation for any issues / discrepancies
Work with various departments as needed to identify and resolve issues / discrepancies
Journal Entry
Prepare journal entries (JEs) to correct errors, resolve discrepancies, reclassify amounts
Collaborate with Accounting and Finance teams to ensure JEs are properly documented and approved
Maintain supporting records / documentation to support internal and external audits
Compliance Support
Assist with taxability research for jurisdictions
Assist with compliance questions, as needed
Assist with compliance filings / payments, as needed
Audit Support
Assist with audit research
Assist with communication of audit results
Assist with tracking of audit status
Licensing | Transition of Properties
Assist with licensing for new properties
Assist with transitioning of properties
Development
Assist with training of hotels on software
Assist with research for tax questions from hotels
Assist with training of tax analysts
Requirements Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field / experience preferred.
5+ years of sales tax experience, including general ledger reconciliations and tax compliance.
Advanced Excel skills, with the ability to analyze large data sets and complex reports.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with Property Management Stems is a plus.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
