Reconciliation Specialist

Summary Under general supervision of the PFS Manager, performs a variety of daily and monthly duties related to reconciliation for eight Brown University Health Affiliates. Responsibilities

Generate daily and monthly reports to reconcile Brown University Health’s patient service revenue to the correct general ledger account.

Reconcile batches posted by the PFS payment posters to the Daily Journal. Identify any variances and notify the appropriate department to correct the issue. Track unidentified or incomplete cash transactions.

Reconcile front‑end collections and MyChart payments to the "Daily Journal". Identify variances, notify the appropriate department, and track incomplete cash transactions.

Assist the Finance team with audits and GL questions, researching accounts in Epic to provide patient and affiliate‑level data.

Perform detailed monthly reconciliations of the Cash and Settlements holding accounts using logs and daily reconciliations of batches posted to the Daily Journal.

Verify Cash Receipt and Credit Card Receipt Journals to reconcile entries.

Prepare monthly journal entries for all Operating Fund cash receipts.

Reconcile, document and distribute the Unprocessed Cash Report. Maintain the procedure manual.

Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications

Basic Knowledge:

Associate’s Degree preferred, but not required.

Tech skills:

Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.

Experience:

Two years of general accounting experience, including preparation of adjusting journal entries and reconciliations. Patient accounting experience strongly preferred.

Additional Information Work Environment & Physical Requirements: Work is performed in a typical office environment. Independent Action: Incumbent functions independently within scope of department policies and practices; refers specific problems to manager only when clarification of departmental policies and procedures may be required. Supervisory Responsibility: None.

Compensation $19.97–$32.96
