Job Description Mission Support and Test Services, LLC (MSTS) manages and operates the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS) for the U.S. National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). Our MISSION is to help ensure the security of the United States and its allies by providing high-hazard experimentation and incident response capabilities through operations, engineering, education, field, and integration services and by acting as environmental stewards to the Site’s Cold War legacy. Our VISION is to be the user site of choice for large-scale, high-hazard, national security experimentation, with premier facilities and capabilities below ground, on the ground, and in the air. Responsibilities NNSS is seeking an experienced Human Resources Specialist to join our Employee Retirement group. This Senior Human Resources Specialist will be empowered to work independently and exercise sound professional judgement, have the ability to work with confidential information and protect sensitive data, manage multiple projects and assignments, and effectively communicate with individuals and groups in a clear, concise manner.
Key Responsibilities
Serves as point of contact for 401(k) and pension plan questions, acts as liaison between employees and retirees and the various third-party providers.
Communicates with current and former employees, vested participants and beneficiaries concerning pension entitlements, retirement process, payment options, calculations, and necessary documentation.
Complete timely reports, wires and files on 401(k) plans and pension plan activity.
Prepares and submits census data for actuary.
Works closely with the Legal Department and Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) attorney,
Leads the audits of two 401(k) plans and 3 pension plans to include responding to external auditors requests, answering eligibility questions.
Works closely with external auditors.
Assists with the completion of Form 5500s for two 401(k) plans and 3 pension plans
Attends Quarterly Benefits Committee meetings and supports the Benefits Committee.
Perform other duties assigned by Management.
Qualifications Due to the nature of our work, US Citizenship is required for all positions.
Bachelor’s degree in related field and at least 5 years’ of professional level experience, or equivalent training and experience.
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Defined Benefit Plans, Defined Contribution Plans, and various legal requirements.
Defined Benefit Plan experience preferred.
Possess excellent mathematical, analytical, and organizational skills.
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Working knowledge of Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), Internal Revenue Service (IRS), Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation(PBGC) and Department of Labor (DOL) regulations.
Ability to demonstrate independence in work.
Critical thinking skills.
Excellent organizational skills.Must be able to communicate effectively to all level of employees.
The primary work location will be Los ee Road facility in North Las Vegas, Nevada.
Work schedule options available to be 5/8’s Monday through Friday or will be 4/10’s Monday through Thursday (subject to change).
Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Ability to obtain a HSPD-12 Personal Identity Verification credential under the Department of Energy Order 206.2, ‘Identity, Credential, and Access Management,’ and Supplemental Directive NNSA SD 206.2, ‘Implementation of Personal Identity Verification for Uncleared Contractors.’
