The Role The Mechanical Designer at Convergix, is responsible for designing custom automation and robotic solutions, primarily using SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and related tools. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, performing engineering calculations, and ensuring compliance with safety and industry standards. The engineer will support manufacturing and troubleshooting, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. This position reports to the

Director of Operations .

Key Responsibilities

Be responsible for the mechanical design of custom automation, robotic, AGV/AMR solutions using SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Total ETO, and PDM Professional.

Contribute to 1-3 projects weekly

Collaborate on design solutions with cross-functional teams (Electrical Design, Controls, Build).

Ensure solutions align to required compliance standards including safety, ergonomics, and more.

Produce 2D assembly and manufacturing drawings, pneumatic schematics, Bills of Materials, Spare Parts lists, and assist with required deliverable documentation.

Support cross functional teams with the build and commissioning process

Complete revisions, redlines, and project documentation

Design custom automation equipment such as robot end of arm tooling, structures, fixtures, and mechanisms in a collaborative environment using SolidWorks

Manage project budgets to deliver results on time

See your ideas evolve from sketch to 3D CAD, to real-world customer equipment.

Given the client-focused nature of the work, employees may be required to work over weekends or outside of standard business hours as needed

Qualifications and Experience

Practical hands‑on mechanical aptitude

Passion for engineering, robots, and automation equipment

Relentless pursuit of learning and growth in the world of industrial automation

Amazing interpersonal skills within a multi‑disciplinary team and diverse customers

Technical Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Mechatronics, etc.)

An ability to travel; Mechanical Designers should have the ability to travel within US and Canada

Experience with custom tooling, pneumatics, materials, and manufacturing processes

A portfolio of projects in which you made significant contributions

Proficiency with SolidWorks and AutoCAD

Tenacity to solve problems and take ownership of solutions with a sense of urgency.

Confidence with presenting your creative ideas freely and speaking in front of groups

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to feel objects, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, talk and hear.

Occasionally lifts or move up to 25 pounds.
