Walterboro Ford is growing, and we are looking for a
high-level Used Car Manager
to take our pre‑owned department to the next level. Our dealership has experienced
tremendous growth and transformation , and we are building a team focused on
structure, accountability, and performance . We currently retail
40+ used vehicles per month
and are aggressively growing our inventory and acquisition strategy. The right leader will help scale this department to
60+ used units monthly while maintaining strong turn and profitability. This is
not a desk manager position
— this is a
department leader role
responsible for inventory strategy, acquisition, merchandising, pricing, and performance management. If you are an experienced used car operator who understands

The Used Car Manager is responsible for
all aspects of the pre‑owned vehicle department , including inventory acquisition, appraisal management, pricing strategy, merchandising, wholesale management, and sales performance. This role ensures the dealership maintains
proper inventory levels, strong turn rates, competitive pricing, and strong gross profitability
while delivering a great customer experience. The Used Car Manager will work closely with
sales managers, service, detail, and marketing
to ensure inventory is
ready, properly merchandised, and selling efficiently. Key Responsibilities
Inventory Management
Maintain optimal used vehicle inventory levels Manage aging inventory and implement pricing adjustments Maintain a target
45‑60 day turn rate Monitor market pricing using tools such as vAuto or similar Ensure inventory mix meets market demand Vehicle Acquisition
Lead trade‑in appraisal strategy Purchase vehicles through auctions, street purchases, and online platforms Work with sales staff to increase
trade‑in capture rates Implement strategies to acquire inventory directly from the public Pricing & Merchandising
Price vehicles competitively based on market data Ensure vehicles are fully merchandised online with proper photos and descriptions Monitor digital performance and adjust pricing accordingly Work with marketing to promote key inventory Sales Performance
Assist sales managers with used vehicle sales strategy Maintain strong
front‑end gross profit
while keeping inventory turning Support the sales team with inventory knowledge and product positioning Wholesale & Aging Management
Identify vehicles for wholesale or liquidation Manage auction disposal of aged inventory Minimize losses on aging vehicles through early intervention Department Leadership
Train sales staff on trade‑in appraisal and acquisition Coordinate with service and detail for vehicle reconditioning timelines Maintain strong communication across departments Performance Expectations
The Used Car Manager will be expected to help the dealership achieve: 60+ used units sold per month 45–60 day inventory turn Strong trade‑in acquisition ratios Consistent front‑end gross profit Proper aging management
