Managing Director - Private Wealth

We have an opportunity for an experienced, strategic, and client-focused Managing Director of Private Wealth to join a collaborative wealth management organization based in the Greater Milwaukee area.

This is a senior leadership role designed for a professional who thrives on defining strategy, mentoring high-performing teams, and elevating the experience delivered to U/HNW clients within a boutique, high-touch advisory environment.

The Managing Director is responsible for setting the vision, standards, and future direction of the firm’s Private Client segment while serving as a trusted leader and mentor for both clients and internal teams.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Wealth Managers and Associate Wealth Managers, providing coaching, feedback, and professional development
  • Define and execute the multi-year strategy for the Private Client platform, balancing innovation, scalability, and exceptional client outcomes
  • Set and uphold standards for advanced wealth planning, integrating investment, estate, tax, philanthropic, business, and risk management strategies
  • Serve as lead or co-lead wealth manager for a select group of the firm’s largest and most complex client relationships
  • Design and maintain a consistent, elevated Private Client experience across all client touchpoints
  • Assess and strengthen team structure, workflows, and service models to support long-term growth
  • Partner closely with investment, planning, tax, and operations teams to deliver coordinated, high-impact client service
  • Identify gaps in people, process, technology, or investment capabilities and advocate for improvements
  • Participate in referral, networking, and market-facing activities as a senior representative of the Private Client platform
  • Ensure alignment with firm policies, fiduciary standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Contribute to a collaborative, accountable, and high-performance firm culture

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree required ; advanced credentials such as CFP, CFA, MBA, or JD strongly preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in wealth management serving UHNW/HNW clients.
  • Prior leadership or management experience leading advisory or wealth teams
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop advisors in complex planning and client relationship management
  • Strong investment and planning credibility with sophisticated families
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build trust with clients, peers, and senior leadership
  • High emotional intelligence and a deeply client-centric mindset
  • Strategic thinker with an entrepreneurial, builder-oriented approach
  • Strong business acumen and understanding of fiduciary advisory models
  • Technically proficient; experience with financial planning software, CRM systems, and portfolio platforms preferred

This is an in-office position based in the Greater Milwaukee area and offers a competitive base salary, performance-based bonus, and comprehensive benefits package .
