Dormitory Director - Missouri School for the Blind

Salary: $50,832 (plus $2.00/hour Shift Differential for working an evening or night shift schedule)

Job Location: This position is located at 3815 Magnolia Ave. St. Louis, MO

MSB’s Dorm Director serves as the direct supervisor for Residential Advisor Is (RA I) and Residential Advisor IIs (RA II), managing the day‑to‑day oversight of the staff working with the students.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and communicate daily updates, needs, and concerns between RAs (both evening and overnight shifts) and Administration.
  • Provide on‑going, daily supervision and staff training to RAs by assisting with onboarding and orientation, completing daily rounds, working one‑on‑one with staff as needed, ensuring adherence to policies and procedures, etc.
  • Assist the Residential Life Administrator with program implementation for students and staff.
  • Monitor Daily Supervisor’s Reports, student data collection, maintenance, and IT requests etc. to ensure the effective implementation of MSB’s programs
  • Assist the Residential Life Administrator with oversight of the ISDs by providing daily inspections of the dorms, serving as a mentor and mediator for unresolved student conflicts, and ensuring students’ adherence to their ISD contract.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective and harmonious working relationships with students, parents, staff and fellow workers.
  • Able to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Five years experience supervising staff and students in a residential school for the blind
  • A valid Missouri Class E Driver’s License with an S endorsement (Note: This license is required to drive our vans; applicant does not drive school buses)
  • Ability to obtain CPR and First Aid Certificates.
