Property Tax Consultant- Real Estate
Keatax, Rockwall, TX, United States
We have an immediate opening for a Property Tax Consultant specializing in the valuation and appeal of commercial real estate assets. This is a high-impact role in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment where deep market knowledge meets sharp analytical thinking.
We are a team-first culture — we lean on each other’s strengths, share knowledge freely, and grow together. If you thrive on solving complex valuation challenges across diverse property types and want to do meaningful work alongside talented people, we’d love to meet you.
WHAT YOU’LL DO As a core member of our Commercial Real Estate Services team, you will manage the full property tax cycle for a portfolio of income-producing and owner-occupied commercial properties. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
Valuing complex commercial real estate assets — including office, retail, industrial, multifamily, and mixed-use properties — using income, cost, and sales comparison approaches
Negotiating assessments with appraisal districts and assessment offices to achieve optimal outcomes for clients
Conducting financial analysis and modeling to support valuation positions, including income capitalization, discounted cash flow, and comparable sales analysis
Preparing and presenting well-reasoned written arguments, appeals, and hearing testimony
Analyzing rent rolls, operating statements, and lease abstracts to develop income approach valuations
Collaborating cross-functionally with senior consultants and client teams to develop appeal strategy
Managing filing deadlines, hearing schedules, and deliverables across a dynamic client portfolio with precision and urgency
Maintaining current knowledge of local real estate market trends, assessment practices, and applicable statutes
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Real Estate, or a related field required
3+ years of property tax appraisal, consulting, or commercial real estate valuation experience required
Strong analytical skills and demonstrated financial analysis experience, ideally in a consulting or appraisal environment
Working knowledge of core commercial real estate finance concepts — NOI, cap rates, DCF, lease structures, and market comparables
Familiarity with IAAO standards and state-specific assessment appeal procedures a plus
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with argus or property tax software a plus
Excellent written and verbal communication skills — you can explain complex valuation positions clearly to any audience
High attention to detail with a deadline-driven mindset
Genuine curiosity and a willingness to keep learning as markets and methods evolve
Ability to travel as needed
WHAT WE OFFER
Comprehensive medical and dental coverage
401(k) with automatic 4% company contribution
Competitive compensation
9/80 flex schedule opportunities
