Job Summary
We’re seeking an experienced and motivated
Commercial Real Estate Appraiser
based in or near Connecticut or Western Massachusetts to join our team of senior MAI-designated professionals, operating out of our Hartford, CT office. This role will cover diverse commercial property types within these submarkets. You’ll gain hands‑on experience with complex valuation assignments across a variety of property types and purposes—including financial reporting, acquisition, mortgage lending, portfolio analysis, eminent domain, and estate planning. Key Responsibilities
Conduct research, market analysis, and valuations for a broad spectrum of commercial real estate assets.
Inspect properties.
Prepare detailed appraisal and consulting reports tailored to client needs.
Work alongside senior‑level appraisers and MAI‑designated professionals.
Interface directly with clients, providing clear, data‑supported insights.
Contribute to high‑profile projects in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.
Potential to participate in the regional office growth within the southern New England offices.
Qualifications
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
Strong organizational and multi‑tasking skills.
Must have experience and be skilled in writing appraisal and appraisal reviews of complex commercial properties.
Solid understanding of real property valuation concepts, commercial real estate terminology, and property tax jurisdictional processes and procedures.
Highly organized, self‑motivated, and interested in career growth.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and valuation/reporting software (e.g., Argus, Excel, CoStar, etc.)
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Must remain available, responsive and cooperative throughout the review process with the Senior Managing Directors, Managing Directors and clients.
Education and Work Requirements
Bachelor’s degree
Active Connecticut and/or Massachusetts Certified General Appraiser License required; additionally advanced trainees may also be considered.
Minimum of 2–5 years of broad property type professional experience as a Commercial Real Estate Appraiser.
MAI designation or candidacy is a plus, but not required.
Reliable personal vehicle and valid auto insurance required for travel within the designated territory.
Applicants must be based in or near Connecticut or Western Massachusetts.
