We are seeking a

Civil / Structural Designer

to support engineering and inspection activities for multiple industrial and infrastructure projects. This contract role will involve a combination of

field inspection work and design support , assisting engineers with evaluating structural components and producing accurate construction drawings. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working both in the field and in a design environment while collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

Perform field inspections of structural steel and related components under the direction of engineering staff and document findings accurately.

Work safely in outdoor environments, including climbing stairs and ladders when required to access inspection areas.

Prepare civil and structural drawings based on engineering guidance with limited supervision.

Ensure construction drawings contain the necessary information for procurement, fabrication, and installation.

Identify potential scope or design changes and communicate them promptly to the project team.

Support engineers with material takeoffs, cost estimates, and preliminary design evaluations.

Review drawings prepared by junior designers or drafters for accuracy and completeness when assigned.

Apply industry standards related to structural steel and reinforced concrete detailing.

Produce detailed drawings for structural steel frameworks, concrete structures, and related civil elements.

Develop construction documents using information provided by equipment vendors and engineering specifications.

Coordinate effectively with other technical disciplines to ensure alignment of project information.

Monitor schedule expectations and help maintain timely delivery of civil and structural project documents.

Provide reasonable estimates for task completion and support planning for small project scopes or design packages.

Qualifications

Experience supporting civil or structural engineering design and drafting in industrial, manufacturing, or infrastructure environments.

Familiarity with structural steel and reinforced concrete detailing practices.

Knowledge of common industry standards such as AISC and ACI.

Working knowledge of construction materials and installation practices used in civil and structural work.

Ability to read and interpret vendor drawings, engineering sketches, and construction specifications.

Experience with CAD platforms such as AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation, or CADWorx.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with engineers, designers, and project teams.

Work Environment

Combination of office design work and field inspection activities.

Candidates must be comfortable working outdoors and accessing elevated areas safely when required.
