Reporting to: Chief Data, Analytics & AI Officer (CDAIO)
Role Purpose
AI/ML Technical Lead is responsible for defining, operationalizing, and governing enterprise AI strategy. This leader will modernize and rationalize existing predictive modeling capabilities while introducing pragmatic, high-impact Generative AI and LLM-enabled solutions primarily through vendor partnerships.
This role requires a builder’s mindset with executive judgment. The successful candidate will independently design the AI technology roadmap, select and integrate vendors, ensure security and compliance alignment, and translate business strategy into executable AI initiatives without relying on a large internal team.
Key Responsibilities
Co-create and own the enterprise AI strategy in partnership with the CDAIO and Head of Data & Analytics.
Traditional predictive / statistical models
Machine learning and decision intelligence
LLM-enabled and agent-based capabilities
Balance innovation with risk, regulatory posture, and operational readiness.
Architecture & Technology Leadership
Define AI reference architectures including:
Data pipelines and feature stores
LLM orchestration, RAG patterns, and model hosting strategies
Ensure alignment with enterprise data platforms, cloud strategy, and security architecture.
Establish guardrails for scalability, cost control, and vendor lock-in mitigation.
Lead selection, contracting input, and ongoing oversight of AI vendors and system integrators.
Serve as technical authority in vendor solution design and delivery quality.
Drive outcome‑based vendor accountability tied to measurable business value.
Risk, Governance & Compliance
Partner closely with the CISO, Legal, Compliance, and Risk functions to:
Define AI risk controls and model governance standards
Ensure safe, explainable, and auditable AI usage
Establish policies for LLM usage, data privacy, and model monitoring
Support internal and regulatory transparency for AI-driven decisions.
Execution & Enablement
Oversee execution of AI initiatives while remaining hands‑on where needed.
Enable business leaders and analytics teams to responsibly adopt AI capabilities.
Communicate progress, risks, and value realization to executive stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
10+ years in data, analytics, or AI technology roles with progressive leadership responsibility.
Demonstrated experience designing and deploying AI solutions in regulated environments.
Predictive modeling and ML techniques
LLMs, GenAI architectures, and vendor platforms
Cloud-based AI ecosystems
Proven success managing vendors and external partners.
Ability to operate autonomously with limited staff support.
Preferred Experience
Insurance, financial services, or healthcare risk domains.
Experience standing up AI governance frameworks.
Prior accountability for enterprise-level AI strategy or platforms.
