What you will be doing We are hiring an Associate Art Director/ Motion to define the motion language of our beauty brands, shaping concept, look, and pacing across short form video, animated toolkits, and content captured for digital, social, eComm, and retail screens. You combine elevated art direction with hands on motion craft, building storyboards, directing shoots, editing, and delivering modular motion systems that scale across platforms and aspect ratios. You will partner with both in house and outside partners to resource and bring dynamic and on trend concepts to life with speed and quality.
This position will report to the Creative Director for Beauty.
Duties and Responsibilities
Lead motion concepting and visual development for campaigns and always on content
Build motion design systems, including type in motion, transitions, overlays, supers, and end cards
Create storyboards, shot lists, animatics, and concise director briefs
Direct and co direct shoots, including studio, macro and texture, product talent, and UGC guided content
Edit and animate content for multiple versions and placements, including 9:16, 1:1, 4:5, and 16:9
Partner with sound design to elevate rhythm, voiceover, and mix for platform norms
Design Oversight
Provide hands on art direction across video, motion graphics, and social first content
Review and approve motion creative for brand consistency, clarity, and performance
Mentor designers and editors on motion principles and platform best practices
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Collaborate with Brand Marketing and Social on hooks, storytelling arcs, and posting strategies
Partner with eComm on PDP videos, how to loops, and feature demos
Work with Copy on voiceover, supers, and captioning
Partner with in house Production on budgets, schedules, crew, and deliverables to bring dynamic and on trend concepts to life
Execution & Workflow
Manage multiple projects from pre production through delivery with tight turnaround times
Establish motion templates and toolkits that enable rapid localization and cutdowns
Ensure files meet technical specs for each channel, including codec, bitrate, loudness, captions, and color
Maintain organized project files, proxies, and versioning
Skills needed to be successful in this role
Expert proficiency in type in motion, pacing, and compositing, with a strong taste level
Experience directing or co directing shoots and guiding post from edit to finish
Ability to analyze performance signals and translate insights into creative iteration
Proven collaboration with production teams, directors of photography, editors, color, and sound
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree
6+ years in motion design and editing with demonstrated art direction leadership
Portfolio that showcases beauty or lifestyle motion work and social first storytelling
Experience using Adobe After Effects, Premiere Pro, Media Encoder, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Figma
Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
Preferred Qualifications
Degree in Motion Design, Film, Graphic Design, or related field
Experience using Cinema 4D or Blender, Lightroom, DaVinci Resolve, emerging technologies and Asana
In Massachusetts, the standard base pay range for this role is $111,791.61 – $125,765.56 annually. This base pay range is specific to Massachusetts and may not be applicable to other locations. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to location, experience, skill level, and performance. The range listed is just one component of the total compensation package for employees.
